I'm beggining to think I may have the wrong diagnosis.

Gaining muscle is really unusual. It's usually fat, unless the person is underweight, in which case it could usually be the body recovering from that state. Have you requested specialist professional help with this, and have you had a decent wide panel of bloods done recently including thyroid profiles and Vit D?
I had 3 thyroid tests as the first came back low? The second 2 were normal. My Dr told me to take vitamin D supplements recently (2 weeks ago) as I was very low. I was also advised to take a vit B supplement as that was on the low side but not as low as D.

One of the symptoms of low VitD is weight gain, so that may not be helping you overall, although low B12 can cause weight loss, so that. doesn't help at all.

Those with inefficient thyroid glands can find weight loss difficult. It's not clear whether your thyroid tests being "low" mean your thyroid function appeared low, or if your TSH was a low number, as a low number is generally desirable. TSH is one of those hormones that can vary a bit, in terms of the specific numbers which is why thy like to diagnose from more than one test.

If those tests were a while ago, it could be worthwhile repeating, and if more recent, are you taking a decent hefty supplement of Vitamin D to bring that score up? Do you take alongside Vitamin K2, and with your largest mean of the day? Those things appear to maximise uptake.

Not sure I'm helping you too much, but the more information people have to understand your issues, the better.

Quite the contrary you have been very helpful. Thank You.
I'd not even heard of K2 so I will look into that. I keep getting cravings for peanuts funny enough & have heard that they contain Vit K. Not sure about K2.
Once again thank you for your time and effort.
Regards Tony.

Did you Doc prescribe an initial course of VitD, or are you to buy your own? They usually only prescribe the initial, higher dose batch, then it's a self-fund process, but thankfully, it's not an outrageously expensive supplement.

My Dr is always worried about cost these days which is understandable.
He told be which one to buy & said he used it himself. If I remember it is 1000 units.
It was £15 for a 6 month supply. He told me to double the does for 6 months & he will test me again.
Apparently he said Vit D was made using chicken feathers??? Lol.

I hadn't heard that one, for sure.

My package (I've just been prescribed an initial course) states they're veggie, gluten-free and a hole lot of other stuff free.

My initial dose is 20,000 units, twice a week, for 10 weeks, that 10 microgrammes (400 units) daily thereafter. My GP likes to get the job done, I think. :) She didn't prescribe me K2 to go alongside, but I've picked that up for myself. It's actually easier to by D3 +K2 combined, I found anyway, but that just might have been me.

Please don't think I'm trying to suggest your Doc has suggested anything wrong, or that I'm trying to persuade you to alter your doses. I'm just relaying personal experience of a recent personal experience.

hey, try reading this link to other reasons than diabetes to having a raised blood glucose... and maybe have your GP examine you for these possible other conditions... if you think it is worthwhile
maybe have your hormone levels of testosterone checked too... if very high levels of that one do much easier develop muscle-mass... And it seems you do that... or adrenal hormone level and by the way also your levels of iron

among Caucasians especially in the GB, there are more people with an inherited caused too high level of iron in their blood, those people do also more frequently develop diabetes... now well I don´t know if this would be in any way relevant

You could be onto something. I have frequent unexplained nose bleeds & bouts of low blood pressure to the point of feeling faint.

No worries Friend I'm a bit of a hypochondriac & always check out advice even from my Dr. :D
But I do think you have given me a very good path to go down.

I will look into that too. I remember when google used to be useful. All you get is adverts these days & unconnected waffle.
That will save me a lot of work.
