I am very fed up today. I spent last night on the sofa because both ankles and one heel swollen and intensely painful. Overnight I struggled with crutches to get to downstairs loo took ages edging along the wall. No springboard to get up and balance gone due to both feet so painful. I am no stranger to gout take Allupurinol daily and had Colchicine in reserve for this eventuality. My husband left for work at 6am today and I am on the sofa till he returns 7pm. The only thing he could easily leave me were various crackers and water (and a potty, blinds down, just in case). My BG numbers were bad yesterday and I am not even going to test today though will eat as few crackers as I can. I will just have to accept the limitations and get back on the horse when I can. If it wasnt for taking Naproxen and usual meds with something on my stomach I would be tempted to join the Fabulous Fasting Group! Lol

Sometimes we just have to take the path of least resistance. Hope you get better soon.

Thanks Guzzler. I am well aware there are many on here with more complex health issues to deal with every day as well as Diabetes. It will be a learning (few days probs) curve and I am going to try and think of a better way to get through tomorrow. I will be optimistic that a few days of pain and bad food wont wreck my BG for long.

Be kind to yourself you didn’t choose to rest up but as you are try and make the most of it hope pills take away worst of pain and you find some distractions ~ whenever I’ve got time to fill - which isn’t often - I do things like join up to www.dietdoctor.com for a free months membership and watch the videos on diet related topics or follow the various video links on here to lectures like the low carb beckenridge 2018 conference. Good opportunity to learn new stuff! And there’s always dvd box sets!

Thanks Shelley, very good ideas.

Is there any way you can crawl on your hands and knees? If you can manage that it may be less distressing for you.

If I get down its getting up again! Even launching from sitting to standing takes time. In the past I always had one good foot. My OH came home from work after lunch, Bless him, and its just reassuring not being on my own. I will get over it in a day or two but it certainly makes me think about life for people with disabilities.

My lovely OH gave me crackers and cheese for lunch at 2pm and at 4pm my BG was 6.3 so not a dissaster. I just did that snapshot for today as I dont have ideal testing conditions today. I did wonder if my cocodamol and naproxen would spike it not to mention the lack of sleep last night.
