Is there any type 1diabetics not on low carb.
I could not get used to it at all.
Good 2 know I am not the only one.Hi @Bridie9408 . Firstly can I ask what constitutes low carb?
Personally I don't see myself as a low carber and have my own reservations about LCHF.
I have tried low carbing on 3 occasions and have decided it's not the way I wish to live my life and manage my diabetes.
Back to my question though. I eat around 180g to 220g carbs currently on a daily basis. The vast majority of non diabetics I know eat far more carbs than me, many hitting maybe 400+ daily. With this in mind I probably follow a low carb diet.
For me it's not about carbs so much as it's about quality of healthy food as perceived by me.
Again on a personal note I feel this forum is heavily driven down the LCHF route and can be, at times a challenging place to voice non LCHF thoughts and opinions.
As a T1 I don't see myself as low carber.![]()
Definitely not.Good 2 know I am not the only one.

I'm quite low carb, 180g -200g (or a little more) a day, from porridge oats, Weetabix, brown basmati rice, wholemeal bread and we don't count glucose tablets or the odd pre swim small banana or the odd 27g mars bar
Complex carbs are the ones to eat if you get portion size to jab correct, complex ones take longer to digest and spike less, I read this low carb stuff with a shake of my head as I just cannot see a healthy way of eating processed meat such as bacon (it's nice as a treat but very unhealthy), pork fat I avoid like the plague, but then I'm proud of both my 51 year old 6 pack and low cholesterol.
I believe in the eat less, move more mantra, as it's worked for me over the last 33 years, each to their own of course as whatever you do sugars all about the ups and downs.
Pre bolusing is where it's at, I'd say![]()
Not sure about being a low carber, but you are definitely a sensible, rational, contented and positive T1.I eat on average 100-150g a day. Some days 200, some days just 50. I don’t do any of it on purpose - it’s not planned. I just eat healthily and not vast amounts...most of the time.
Does that make me a low carber?
