Hi all,
I am currently starting the process to change from my beloved animas pump.
Options are either OmniPod or Medtronic 640g. I used dexcom g5 and so would not be able to benefit from the low glucose suspend function from Medtronic, and so (correct me if I’m wrong) but switching to this would mean life would not be much different than when on animas.
I used to be very against getting a OmniPod but the more research I have done, the more of an attractive option it seems.
I have a few concerns however and I hope you guys can help!
* PDM- I love that bolusing can be even more discrete but I worry that it’s easier to leave this behind when going out- am I right in saying hat if this happens my basal rate would continue, but there is no way to bolus without the pdm?
*pod comfort- I am very slim and worry that this will limit available sites for the pod. I attend gym classes etc regularly and worry that eg lower back positioning of the pod will limit my ability to perform exercises in my back or even sleep lying on my pod site
*skin reactions- I have been fine with sites from animas and dexcom but had severe skin reaction to libre meaning I had to stop using this- anyone had similar experiences with pod sites?
*sun holidays/steam room/sauna- how do you cope with this.
Thanks in advance!!
Nikki
