See above post from Adam, for men to have “ wood” is slang / anecdotal for erection and it’s a long standing joke people allegedly told the male children “ touching that will make you go blind “
Yeah, my ol' man used to tell me that. I asked him if it was OK to keep it up just 'til I needed glasses.

Keep WHAT up? The English language is full of naughty double meanings. A pitfall for foreigners.
Sure has. I've been caught once or twice. I remember once while in the US I was taking notes and made a mistake. I asked the lovely American lass beside me if she had a rubber. Couldn't understand the fuss until someone whispered in my ear.

There is a lot of fear banded about on this site / subject, in my experience I’ve had good bg control for many years but after 44 years I’m getting many complications, I’m very aware of them and live with that awareness/ fear constantly but I can do nothing about things happening. I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed as I used to be but it’s the public in general that need to get themselves educated, not for me to do it. I take injections, I use a pump, I take bg readings, I take hypos, I’m blind, I’m depressed, I’ve got mobility and joint issues, am I afraid, embarrassed, ashamed, NO.
I know that this post is old, but in case you read my post. You may be blind depressed and have joint issues, but I will bet that you have a good brain and a wonderful soul : )

A GP can refer a patient to a specialist clinic at the hospital if the prescribed medication hasn't helped. This kind of condition can affect both people, as intimacy in a relationship is a wonderful bond, important too as a loving part of the relationship. Talking about it openly and honestly with each other is the best thing to do.
