Me Again Sorry

I have, at times, been sent to hospital by ambulance at the request of my GP, when I had what he considered an urgent problem. At A&E, they do take you a bit more seriously when you arrive that way. Sometimes I have to fight for my health, because no one else will. Even if it's inconvenient for the doctors concerned.

If you have a fall, or some other serious symptoms develop, you're not being dishonest when you call an ambulance or go to A&E. Please don't downplay your symptoms when you speak to doctors (other than your GPs, who know how urgent your need is). You wouldn't be jumping ahead of other patients with greater need.

Do you have a team who are available to help you regarding bipolar? Maybe they could write a letter about all this, because a case could be made that the added stress is not good for you.

Hang in there Ally, here are some more hugs.
Thank you
I do have a psych but the last two appointments that I had with him, I cancelled them both. I just couldn"t go as I had had enough of doctors. Am supposed to see him on the 27th.

I should go as I know if I cancel again, he would have every right then to discharge me

It is so worrying , crazy that you have to wait so long, maybe it would help a bit to go NO-carb for a while like undet 20 grams a day

I agree with Bluetit, you need to keep this appointment, lass. Please don't let things slide, I know how hard it is when you have already been through so much effort to get the treatment that you deserve and I know just how mentally tiring it can be to attend a lot of appointments but please don't give up now, you've gone this far and got things moving at last don't fall at the last hurdle. Sending you hugs.

You need a strong advocate and one not prepared to take "no" for an answer. It's ridiculous Ally
The receptionists aren't Dr's and shouldn't have authority to say no.
Just my opinion.
They should fit her in but say only 10mins appointment then gp should tell her to return for a more in depth conversation or treatment plan. (double appointment).

Curiosity got the better of me and I called the referral appt dept at the hospital.
They received my referral an 23rd May. No appt has been sent out yet. But now you all like me might laugh or cry at this next bit.
Am on what they call the medium to high to be seen waiting list, which I thought was good, now the bad news, from that date, there is a 24 week wait to be seen. So I won t hear anything for a good few weeks and won t be seen at least until middle to end of October. My gp was right in saying there is a long waiting list. So looks like I have a good few weeks well several weeks lol before I will be seen
Right.
So what did gp do or suggest for you to be seen by hospital incase something else? Did he mean another dept not neurology or if neurology did he change your request to high priority?
I wish these Dr's would be more clear with Alli.
Alli if you fall go to a&e and sit till investigated as you cannot go on like this. Neurology will still see you in October.
There is a reflux of patients awaiting to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia from a neurologist too so we diabetics aren't a priority either. Then there's injury patients and stroke patients.
A very busy department but not many Neurologists.. . I hear.

It may be still worth calling appointments again in a few days to see if you have been changed to high priority and they MIGHT be able to give you a firm date.

Right.

My gp said he wants to eliminate anything else that the neurologist may find or something.
I now realise there's many illness,s that come under the neurology dept.
I promise if I need A@E then I will go xx
