I've been on keto and daily fasting for around 6 weeks now and am losing around a kg per week - which is great, and my fasting BG on waking are in the mid 4 to mid 5 range, which I'm happy with.
It's the post meal readings which are confusing me a little. For example, today I fasted all day (23 hrs with water or mint tea only), my FBG had been 5.1 at 7am. I tested at 6.30pm (4.7), then broke my fast with a small number of salted pecans (my weakness) and a cup of black decaf. Half an hour later, I had a small gin & slimline tonic (one of those premixed tins) then had dinner - a good serving of bacon, avocado, baked goats cheese and walnut salad on rocket (Diet Doctor recipe) washed down with a glass of sparkling mineral water. Tested again at 2 hours and it was 4.7 again. Should I be reading anything into this? I know I ate some carbs in that rocket and spinach! I mean, I'm delighted if these readings are true, but should I be thinking about buying another meter?
Apologies if this seems a bit of a pathetic question, but I'd be grateful for any reassurance /comments. Thanks.
