Type 1'stars R Us

I've had a few hours Libre free this afternoon as it expired and I didn't get chance to wash the sun lotion off till this evening, 4.4 on a finger stick, about 100g carbs for tea and maybe .5u too much bolus but a rich tea biscuit will take care of that. Basal next and my sensor should have warmed up by supper, I seem to be lucky and get fairly accurate Libre readings, I've had one so far leave a little rash and was sore, but only the one.

You feel a little daft when you scan both arms on autopilot only to realise there is no sensor :p
I ended up with my arms in a terrible state kev last one started weeping after 3 days .ive got present one on lower back just to the side had it there for 5 days now no problems but automatically keep scanning armsthis hot weather drops bgs like a stone on the upside if thats what ye can call it ive had loads of biccys and sweet stuff to bring them back up

Hi @kev-w . I use the dexcom and I'm currently on day 27. This is the longest surviving so far.
I do feel a certain sense of freedom when I go without the sensor for 4 to 7 days. I find it nice to go back to the old way for awhile. Like to keep the ability to fly solo as it were.
Hope your head is holding up in this superb weather we're having.:):):)

Good morning everyone,

I failed. I woke up at 11.30 pm, and my blood sugar was trying to escape my control, and had reached 8.0, so I had to do some aggressive correcting. It peaked at 8.7 before midnight, so I didn't get the full 24 hours below target. I consoled myself with the thought that my target was pretty randomly selected anyway.

I could not have done that without Freestyle Libre. I find the longer I've used it the more control I have over my blood sugar, as I know better when its likely to misbehave.

Was reading yesterday the NICE guidelines, not sure why. I think it's almost impossible to hit the target .6.5 HbA1c without Freestyle Libre, on MDI. They admit that most people don't achieve it, but make it incredibly hard to get CGM, it's almost paradoxical thinking. They set an almost unachievable target, and then create so many barriers to accessing the technology that could allow people to get anywhere close to it, it's a bit of a joke.

At least access to Freestyle Libre is improving, if a little slowly. I'm going to go and complain about this to someone today. Not sure who yet.

I wrote to our local MP who wrote to the CCG a good number of times, I complained to the CCG in writing too, and also managed to get the local BBC radio to do an article on the post code lottery of its availability, I still tweet the prime minister about hers to ask if it's on prescription, as it needs to be made available to all T1ds across the UK who meet the criteria. (This will happen over the next couple of years but that's no help to those who currently can't access one)

Good morning y'all, hypo I was when I woke up, 2.3 on a finger stick & 2.4 on the libre but I'm ok, I've dropped from 9 and I'd eaten 2 Weetabix for supper so I'm blaming the heat. :banghead:

I do love Fridays though :)

I'm in Scotland, and have an SNP MP, so there is no way I can write to him about the way CCGs in England are not funding Freestyle Libre, he might enjoy the England bad Scotland good aspect of it, but I don't think that's helpful, and also Scotland is still patchy in offering it.

I'd like to see a bit of shaming of those CCGs that still aren't funding it. Diabetes UK have a map, but are too polite to go for an actual list of the offending CCGs, which is what is needed really.

Our MP is labour and was on this occasion quite useful, but if he's there to represent his constituents then point him towards Glasgow as it appeared to be available there, have a look for the 'RMOC' position statement on the prescription criteria and ask him why his CCG are continuing to ignore it!

Twitter's a good place for shaming the CCGs :p

They aren't though, I'm in Edinburgh and Lothians health area, and they started the process of offering it on prescription in January. I've had it since late March. So they've been really good. It's been turned into a overly localised campaign. It's almost impossible to complain to a CCG you don't live in.

Goood morning everyone, libre says the DP started at 6 o’clock this morning while I was still asleep -or maybe it was something I was dreaming about that erroneously told me my feet were on the floor? Who knows, either way 9.8 by fingerprick by the time I checked. Don’t you love the daily surprises and uncertainties if, like me, there’s a little dance going on above the basic patterns?
Did anyone else watch the Celebrities working with the NHS last night? Sooooooo many underfundings and poor political decisions revealed - I’m not holding my breath that libre will be widely prescribed in the near future.

:) I crossed my wires there as I thought your CCG weren't prescribing, so fair point :)

Twitters still a place you can post on random CCGs accounts to ask them why they're not following the guidelines :)

Morning all. Started the day with 7.3 which is well within my " I'm happy with that zone ".
Dexcom shows a flat line night around about 8. Again that's ok with me.
Have a good day everyone.
Special thoughts for RRB and today's wedding:) ( hope I've got the right day)

Morning :bag:

Was 6 when I woke now 9.3 :yuck: keep an eye on things

@Alison54321 Yeah he is good I do like him, but like all things medical I ask questions and show an interest in what they are doing, so this means that when the picturre of the eye come up, he shows me where the damage is and compair it to the prvious year. All fun and rather interesting.

@kev-w If your going red around the next area you might have to start the day with a "Morn Yaw All" in a cetain Southern drawl :hilarious:;)

I might do that, though my twitter account isn't very diabetes related. The followers will have to accept it though.

A beautiful 5.6 this glorious morning, I just want to know why last nights correction from 11.9 and 4u worked when the night befores 5u had half the affect?! :meh: (no need to answer, I have a fair idea)

Perfect day for a wedding if it is today RRB - well here it is.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all......still no email off the dietitian about the pump meeting :(
Woke with a BG of 8 and another straight line thru the night :)
Change my Libre sensor last night. After the hour warm up a finger prick test was 6.4 and the Libre was 6.4 so they are prettty accurate for me :D. Luckily I live in Wales and the Libre is prescribed in most areas
