Due to my pain in my spine and legs I haven’t trained for over six weeks. I’ve recently been completely off the tracks eating everything/stopped training and it’s a very slippery slope.
Sugars rising and I was doing so well. I got my HBA1C down to 51 from 79 and now I feel I’ve really let myself down.
I’m have trouble with my IBS and we’ll I’m just holding my head low.
It’s so easy just to say to yourself one day won’t harm, one week then back to it.
Then before you know it.
Sugars are 10 every morning guys killing and spine getting worse due to no exercise.

I’m sure we’ve all been there I know I have.
Well I must begin to start again, low carb, hour cardio, 30mins stretching, looking after myself as no one else can do it for me.

I’m writing here and will daily keep a log to ensure I’m sticking to it.
If you see me slipping feel free to give me a budge.

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
I am thinking of adding the phrase 'We All Wobble' to my signature! You wobbled but now you are standing firm and addressing the problem, cut yourself some slack. Do not overdo the excercise at first, you may stall recovery so take it slow and steady. Remember that carbs can cause inflammation so diet does have a bearing on pain levels.
Keeping a journal here will, indeed, help to keep you motivated and the support and encouragement you receive from members will do your confidence the world of good. Best of luck.

You’ve taken the first step by ‘confessing’ here. I can’t exercise much due to arthritis so my weight and HbA1c have both come down primarily with diet, I do try to walk a little everyday. I reckon therefore to get the diet back on track while your back recovers, I agree with @Guzzler, low carbing has an anti inflammatory effect, it’s helped my arthritis. I recently had an op on my foot was so wasn’t walking at all, just getting back to it now. Good idea to post here to keep yourself on track. All the best!

P.S.

I have just been viewing a lecture on LCHF and the doctor said that the symptoms of IBS improve when carb levels are lowered. Have you noticed a worsening of symptoms whilst on your wobble?

I still have family at home although they are adults so I know what it is like to have the baddies in the cupboards and fridge. It was so hard to resist temptation at the beginning and no doubt I will wobble in the future but we do have a vested interest in our future well being so that keeps me on the straight and narrow (ish). Hope your pain issues diminish soon.

My two kids are away at Uni now but they’ll be home for the Easter holidays this weekend so I understand how hard it is when there’s temptation in lots of the cupboards. However I have one cupboard all to myself, full of all the things to help me with my low carb life. I have ingredients for low carb baking, coconut flour, almond flour, Splenda, psyllium husk, chia seeds etc... But I also have low carb snacks for when I just yearn something ‘snacky’, low carb bars, sugar free ready made jellies, dark chocolate, carblife sweets, pork scratchings, nuts etc.. And there’s always Oppo ice cream in the freezer!

How are you getting on @Dadio?

Trust me to be the exception of the rule but after a few blood tests now I still have low inflammation even when I've been unwell lately... and a bad back.
I'm awaiting an assessment on my back after severe pain for 2yrs. Even on very very low carb eating.
I know many have reported extra sensitivity to pain on low carb eating but usually not too severe.
I'm suspected to have fibromyalgia now due to new IBS treatment and only tramadol relieving every movement pain. I've just be given pregabalin to try and my numb toe has been resolved on it. So balance when walking has improved. I no longer rely on my trainer balancing my right side. I'm hoping this lasts and I don't become tolerant to this med too quickly.
I seem to be intolerant to sooo many tablets. Codeine and canagliflozin was the worst for side effects.
It must be that rare blood type of mine. Ha ha.

Obviously my back problem isn't inflammation based. Which is a huge mystery to me but hoping a scan or x-ray may show some light into the extreme pain in walking, even on tramadol, paracetamol and ibuprofen. Ibuprofen for a muscle relaxant for my spasms when walking or general movement.

Pre low carb I was swimming 3 times a week and preparing extra activities (cycling and mini jogging).
I feel scatica took a hold in swimming due to too cold the local bathes water, whilst on very low carb eating.
Low carbing keeps my bgs lower. For which I'm truly thankful. A great type2 tool in the fight with high bgs.
One thing about low carbing is it gives hope to so many diabetics which would normally have none.
I noticed I looked alot younger too! So cell regeneration was very possible. Nerve damaged patients even found improvement on it.
Low carbing is a very positive tool.

Even for my obstinate body which has other conditions other than diabetes.

How are things?

I had a wobble due to IBS new diagnosis. I must be coming out in sympathy with you. Metformin isn't playing ball with IBS. So annoying. So most of weight loss has been spoilt by no metformin 2st loss benefit.
So bariatric surgeon wants me to commit to 3-4kg loss in 6wks. Metformin and IBS are fighting it out but with 2kg loss already. Fingers cross it stays same or more loss.
That IBS is horrendous. Worse than I imaged for sufferers. Thank god for mebeverine in buscupan's absence.
I hope you're managing yours well and having more positive bgs than negative ones.
I'm determined not to be beaten. I've come this close for nhs help that it's not even an option to not reach my goal which will please my surgeon.
6wks holidays is filled with treats but I'm focused so this is it, for me.
Its now or never to give it my all. Ironically after op small eating is a different disapline again. A different diet to shrink liver leading up to op date too.
I'd best get used to eating to order now.

Have you found your IBS triggers? I'm thinking onion and bitter lemon seems to be mine but not 100% sure.

Hi things are improving thanks,
Very slowly.
I find triggers are alcohol lucky I have very little now, cooking oils mainly fry ups, milk on cereal now using almond milk , black filtered coffee my favourite,

My sugars are still like a mountain range and I’m walking between 2 & 4 Miles daily along with exercise.
Unfortunately I had pneumonia in the previous weeks and that has definitely hampered things.
Only got back to walking last weekend.
Keep in touch and let me know how the operation goes.
Im due to see the specialist in October for a review as the shocks and nerve pain in my feet and legs are worsening.

Ah well take care and stay positive.

You too.
Thank you for replying.

I hope your nerve pain improves with longterm improved bgs. I've used supplement r-ala for my numb toes and it improved greatly. Only thing I cannot afford it's increased price for the 80% pure one. It was brilliant thou.

Ps. Yes cows milk makes me burp but black coffee or with cream, doesn't.

Unless due to what the cows are now fed?
