Type 1'stars R Us

In Oz the medals are all named after a benefactor called Kellion and start at the 50 years mark (silver, and no chocolate in them either), thence 60, 70, 75, 80 and so on.
There were 6 people in my 'graduation' group, one for the 60 years and the rest of us for the 50.
My endocrinologist mentioned that one of his patients had reached the 70 years several years back and that the gentleman had recalled that he started on insulin at about the time that the UK declared war on Germany.
A poignant reminder, I guess, of the futility of war and the survival of the human spirit against adversity.
The award ceremony was a humbling experience and I was reminded during it of those that I knew were on their way to the 50 year mark and of those that sadly had not made it.

A few weeks ago for about 10 days i was experiencing really bad dawn phenomenen. BG rising about 4 am and going up around 4/5 overnight.

Past weeks have been great steady most nights. Yesterday had one of my best days in a while 5.2---7.7 from around 7 am until 10.30. Went to bed with a 5.9, yeah finally cracked this diabetes nonsense

Just woke up to an 11.9 ***

Oh well back to drawing board

Its a lovely sunny day here and I am off the weekend to see friends. They do like a small refreshment or 10 as well as lots of cakes. This should be a good test of my low card diet and my drinking, or lack of drinking habits

Hope you guys all have a good day

Morning all. Another hot, uncomfortable night and a visit downstairs early for some reprieve from the heat.
BS 7.3 which I’m more than happy with. Not really been doing the diabetic stuff recently, what with holidays, grandkids and now the frustration of trying to move home and dealing with estate agents and solicitors. Everyday throws up a new problem house wise at the moment. Seems one solicitor in the chain is still using Quink and quill.
All well I guess it’s in the lap of the gods at the moment, I got onto my people and they seem to have bucked their ideas up.
Have a good all.
We just had a 30 sec shower, hoping for a few more to clear the air.

5.9 at 5.30am so happy days.
Finish work today for a weeks holiday and wifey and me are off camping in north wales but sadly the forecast looks a bit disappointing.
Its funny but as a teenager I hated the sunny weather but now I'm 50 the hotter and sunnier the better.
It doesn't affect my diabetes in the slightest.

Have a top day everyone and an even better weekend.

Tony

Morning y'all, nice flat line thru the night but at 10.1 which is annoying, feeling quite cool this morning and we've some rain but it'll hopefully have cleared by the time I'm ready to go to work, and if it doesn't I'm back to mums old house to carry on clearing it, my eldest is having a baby shower there tomorrow (yeah what's one of them?) so I'm restricted to where I can put things which is a nuisance but anyway :)

A day of scanning the wrong arm as I've just changed sensor last night, does anyone else do that when they change arms? :)

Good you had a flat line not so good at 10.1 thou . I always scan the wrong arm on the following day of a change and cuss the sensor for not working!!

Scanning has already become an automatic action and I'll scan the wrong arm for a few days each fortnight, 1 month 3 days until the Libre review which is quite scary, but I should have complied with the requirements (says he in a hoping voice ) as the car free month saw very little blood testing so I'm currently on half a strip a day and it's 'cost neutral/cost saving. (Hopefully)

50 next year, Christmas Eve, so I’ll be having the chocolate and the non-chocolate versions. How did you go about claiming yours @Knikki? I hear they used to be given as a sort of reward for getting through the obstacle course but now we have to pay for them.

@porl69 posted a link about giving info on how to get them.

It came up in conversation when I had an appointment with my DSN earlier in the year, I thought I had to get a letter from her to say how long I had T1D, anyway one thing led to another and it got put on the back burner. A few weeks past and a bulky letter turned up with the medal in it.

Was rather suprised but no money transaction was involved.

I scan using my phone...boy do I get some funny looks of people and the odd "the phone should be by your ear to hear that!"

Aye those funny looks you get wearing it, I'm using the reader till the end of the trial and have seen a few folk stare but I give them the look and carry on :)

@Knikki Growing up with a crop and a scooter those bands weren't ever an option but I've got 'A whole lotta rosie' down on guitar these days and do occasionally blast a bit of rock out :)

I woke to an 7.8 dead straight line thru the night as well. And that was with a home made curry and rice. Sort of a split bolus with it as well

A straight line through the night for me too, maybe it’s the heat and the way it widens the blood vessels. Too close and a bit stifling here right now, but we’re sitting south of the storm warning area☹️.
Hope the music works @therower, the daughter who lives in your region said last night it felt as though storms were coming. Volume loud please, get it all the way to the sarf east!

HMMM!!!!! :shifty::shifty::shifty::shifty::shifty: Woke up mid 7's now cruising at low 4's.

OK dextrose tab bcause all the emergency biscuits have melted here at work.:)

Chocolate ones? They’ll be stuck together too.

We have had rain, lots of it, my In Bloom plants are jumping for joy! The water butt is overflowing and it is now only 25 in the hall. And the thunder just keeps on rolling.
In other news woke on a 16!!!! It was swim morning so I was not happy. Got it down but not quite enough. It severely hampered my monthly 20 length time trial. 4 seconds slower. Not happy!
