Freestyle Libra Review

I am only my second day and its decent......its surprisingly accurate, after hearing all the horror stories for months and months, but I suspect that's just lucky in terms of how close my blood and interstitial fluid are.....

it doesn't stop you making dosing and timing errors, but it does allow you to effortlessly scan and try and get ahead of the highs and lows....

I have already made adjustments to my overnight basal from the first nights graph and it worked a treat.....so its definitely worth trying once to see....

obviously it helps if you are already actively making adjustments and have some experience with carb counting etc.....

Depends what you want it for.
If you want to replace finger prick tests, in my experience, it is not accurate enough.
If you want to understand trends and and adjust your diet/medication, it is great.

It seems the accuracy varies from sensor to sensor and from person to person. So, I would recommend trialling one sensor before making a bigger commitment to see if it works for you.

There are lots and lots and lots and lots of threads on this topic. Take a look around the forum.

Edited to add: when you Search around the Forum look for "LibrE"

Is it worth it? I would say yes, but then I've had it free on NHS prescription now for four months.

I've gone through several stages in using it, and made a number of changes based on the data. It can get a bit obsessive, but on the other hand my blood sugar didn't go above 7.8, or below 4 yesterday. It was lovely. I'm expecting a few more days like that too.

It does take a while because I found I was making step by step changes, and sometimes one change would mess up another bit, but over time, my blood sugar control has definitely improved.

is it worth getting this??

Siman - It could be worthwhile updating your profile to display your type of diabetes and what, if any, medications you take, because the advantages/disadvantages of the Libre vary between T1 and T2 (and other) types. The treatment method also influences those advantages/disadvantages.

To make the adjustments, just go to your account, then Personal Details, and you'll see the relevant details there. You can access your account by hovering over your user name towards the top right side of your screen.

Well at last I will be getting my Libre to use . I have been on a test usng the meter and can not wait till I get it via the NHS and stop pricking my finger unless I go driving!
