Regular moderate exercise log

A lunchtime swim with my youngest for me, nothing too strenuous today, a couple of lengths of fly from dives as I need to cheat to get the momentum going, age and undulation not necessarily complimenting each other :) and my timing is out, a few double crawl lengths alongside child with tumble turns and 10 minutes just treading water supervising her and a friend diving, a fun session all in all.

You're only supposed to buy a bloo** fitbit, iP and Sous Vide - apologies Mr Micklewhite

Monday evening chest, dumb bell press up to 36k6 x4 starting at 28kg x 12 in 2kg raises dropping a couple of reps each time, a plate machine press up to 80kg x 4, incline dumbbell flys to 20kg x 6, cable machine flys to 15kg x 5 and pull overs with a 40kg bell, GAINZ as a couple of mates would say :) and I hope I can do the same with tomorrows back session....

Bliss -a 14 mile walk day as it's not been outrageously hot, my blood sugars have behaved beautifully and I'm just about to subside into a bath now I've put the bins out.

However, I seemed to have misplaced two hats in two days. Maybe they've run off to find the several pairs of gloves which ran away over the winter.

Who is Mr Micklewhite? I’ve only heard of Maurice Micklewhite aka Michael Caine

Just short of 13k steps today, mostly from 2 brisk walks. I’m trying to walk faster. My normal pace is an ambling plod, if I try to speed up its ok for a few minutes then my mind wanders and I realise Ive slowed down again.

Also my yoga class this evening. It’s stopping for Aug, as is my Friday gym class. I really look forward to both so I think Aug will be a long month.

16.4k steps and 41 mins log splitting - hr monitor gave average hr of 133 for that which seems good. Trouble is doesn't seem to be helping bg levels although I will never know what they would be without. @DJC3 M Cane is exactly who I meant as in The Italian Job - you were only suppose to ....:angelic:

My bg levels are definitely slightly higher when I don't walk as much and I don't do any alternative physical activity, even if I compensate with insulin. I was averaging 7/8 all weekend with two days of little walking and much slobbing on the sofa.

Back to usual 5s and 6s with a 4.4 appearing just before evening meal after a day full of activity.

@Japes kudos to you for the sheer amount of walking yesterday and the beneficial effect on your bg control. I am sure exercise helps with bg control just seems to be doing not much more than holding back the tears for myself right now bg wise. Working really well for other health markers though:)

Deadlift last night 140kg 9x4 as was trying out another tweak to the technique, and I must admit that 140kg never felt as easy as last night, time to consolidate this new technique now. Mind you I was a little tired after it as that was a lot of sets last night.

Take care everyone.

Hi all. Quite a lot on the exercise front today, beginning with a 2 hour game of household Tetris. Otherwise known as clearing out and reorganising cupboards in a tiny apartment. Definitely counts as resistance training I think, with all the lifting, climbing up and down...

Just over 10k steps in the course of the day plus another swimming session. 40 lengths and officially good for my BG. All 3 trips have resulted in a drop. Today 4.5 before dinner, 4.9 on arrival at pool (and roughly an hour after dinner), 4.1 at end of swim. Really enjoying it too.

Tuesday back session, usual warm up, wide grip pull downs (full bar width) to 80kg x 6 and a last set with the full 90kg stack but a narrower grip x 5, deadlifts to 100kg. bent over one arm rows up to 36kg, shrugs to 80kg and finished back on the pull down machine with 3 sets of close grip pull downs to 80kg, touch and go whether I went as I had a quite bad low in the early hours and haven't felt 'right' all day but the gym sorted me out :) tho I sidestepped my swim again....

I clearly remember the clear frustration of the start of the permanently high blood sugars which would not go down to safe levels with walking last summer. It's a horrid feeling, knowing you're trying, and what had once worked beautifully no longer seemed to be doing so. But, it only got even worse if I did nothing, so it kept me at it in an odd way.

Chickens, dogs and grandson safely in bed/secure for the night. Probably went too mad with log splitting yesterday as back a bit sore today so took it easy for most of the day. Did my 2nd part of Nordic Walking tonight on a nice 2.5 mile walk around nearby village. At least 20 people waiting for the next class so popular about here. 14K steps so ok I guess. Take care folks.

Bench session last night, I was supposed to take four weeks to work upto 110kg 6x4 (which is quite hard) I only went and did it last night!! Smashed it!! My coach was a bit surprised that I did it in only one session. So I have a new programme for the next four weeks which takes me up to my eye surgery and a projected single of 180kg. Happy days.

Take care everyone.

4 plates a side on an Olympic bar bench press, like how do you lift that? :p :p :) Them's real weights @johnpol, my own goal is 100kg, I've lifted it in the past but weighing a stone more and 20 years younger.

Swimming for me, should have been with child but she took a friend and ignored me for 26 minutes before wanting to interrupt me :) and I managed 1100m breaststroke in that time, I'm finding I've a more steady post swim blood glucose now I'm using Tresiba as my basal which is a relief....

Nothing much in particular today but fitbit will reach about 16.7k by bedtime so even discounting some I must have done at least the random 10k steps.

Japes would you mind elaborating a bit? Were your blood sugars stable for a while and then started climbing for no obvious reason?
I’m only asking as Ive read similar things which worry me a little and I almost wonder if we’re fighting an impossible battle sometimes.
