I was diagnosed with type 2 a year ago. Have completely buried my head in the sand and not dealt with it. Feel like **** all the time. Bought a testing machine yesterday and it’s nust keeps reading Lo. I am so overwhelmed and honestly don’t know where to start or what to do. I am on a tablet every day.

I think the first thing to do is to verify those meter readings. You shouldn't be reading LO all the time if you are a T2. Since I guess you don't have a second meter then I think a trip to the doctor's surgery along with your meter to find the truth.

I presume you have an Hba1c result after a year so those would be of interest.

Did you buy your testing machine online or from a chemist? If the latter, take it back to where you bought it and get a replacement and/or test. If online, phone the supplier and explain the readings. They make their money from the strips and not the meters so it's in their interest to replace a faulty meter. What pills are you on?

Have you thought about changing your diet? Many people improve their health and well being (including a return to healthy energy levels) by lowering the carbohydrates in their diet.

I’m going to have to drastically change my way of life and tackle this thing rather than sweeping it under the carpet

Right decision.

First, get that meter replaced and while you're waiting for the replacement you can still address the carbs in your diet. At first some people think that lowering carbs is restricting but it's not really. Cut down or cut out the foods that have the highest amount of carb in them such as bread, potatoes, pasta, rice and anything made of flour. There are low carb alternatives to bread in supermarkets that you could try such as HiLo at Sainsburys etc and Burgen. Swap out potatoes for extra above ground veggies. As you lower your carbs you should raise the amount of healthy fats (of your choice) to provide you with the energy you lose from carbohydrates.

These are the basic things but your meter will show you which foods affect you most. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
