Accidental double dose of Levemir averted, Novorapid adjusted for a long walk day, current stormy weather permitting, work-based shopping list prepared, (I even remembered to get the cash in advance this time!) and job list ready for a minimal walk day tomorrow.

Now I'm ready for my day off.

Are the nice brown mushrooms in short supply at the moment? They are one of my staple veggies, always have been, and there were none in either supermarket on last night's food shopping trip. There were white ones, but they aren't as nice, and even they weren't as plentiful as usual. Leeks were noticeably lacking the other week.

Morning Japes,

The brown mushrooms are part of my staple diet too. I managed to get some yesterday, though stocks were low, but the day before they didn't have any in my local Tesco's, which is unusual.

Could be a hiccup in supply. the storm may also have slowed down deliveries.

Morning y'all :) 7.2 waking, a bit tired and I've got my youngest girl tonight and my eldest's going into hospital at 4pm to be induced to start her off in labour,(a baby not politics :p) she's a bit of a drama queen and she's had a very long Facebook pregnancy :p but anyway....

Have a good weekend :)

Morning all, quiet outside today although it’s supposed to rain soon so I had a big book shop yesterday and a hunt for good pressies to take to my Greek friend’s. Initial packing sort out underway with tomorrow for last-minutes forgottens hunt. Had a bad dream that I’d arrived at the airport gate before I realised I’d forgotten to bring euros - thank goodness I got them before Salzburg.

Good morning all. 7 this morning but did wake up in the middle of the night to a 14.5 so correction and back to bed.
@kev-w is this going to be the 1st grandchild? Bampi Kev sounds cool
:) no my second, the first's 3.5.

I've 3 kids, 25yr old daughter, 24 year old son who's first child's due in November and my youngest from another relationship who's 11 nearly 1 going on 21.

Ooh, Grandad Kev! Hope it all goes smoothly for her.

Mild hypo at 4am, high 3s but my alarm went off. Same again an hour ago, probably the wine last night. Easily dealt with, with one dextrose tab and turning off the insulin tap for half an hour. Quiet day today, I think.

Talking of mushrooms, I’d put some big ones in the oven yesterday afternoon to part roast ready for topping with cheese and grilling when I got back from Oxford last night... this silly sod wouldn’t get off my car, so I took him back to the house only to find I’d left them cooking in the oven... crisis averted, many cat treats today!

Happy Saturday folks :)

image.jpg Going through old folders from mothers I chanced upon this booklet circa 1984 when I was diagnosed, some good advice but none of it beats regular testing :)
My gripe tho is no mention of a honeymoon period or it being extended for years if you followed the exercise advice on the second page, for years I told the doctor it was like some days I made my own insulin and he didn't believe me :)

Excellent! Well supplied with chestnut mushrooms again - my food world is a better place.

Work Based Shopping completed for the year - apart from barrier cream which appears to have vanished from the shelves. I may or may not have blamed my blood sugars for my caustic comments to staff standing around talking to each other and ignoring me. I've worked in retail and am normally tolerant of this to a degree, but when they just stared at me when I asked my question politely, when I could get a word in edgeways, then shrugged their shoulders as the short reply was "No, never stock it" (in a major hardware store!) I did state I could understand why stores were closing down if this was the general attitude. I'd really like to carry on shopping in shops, but it's getting harder and harder to keep to my resolve to do so.

The delivery thing was definitely the problem in one of them - I heard staff say to someone else they'd had delivery issues that day. It's unusual for both of these shops to be out of them, even at the time of night I often go supermarket shopping, which is why I was wondering out loud about general supplies.

Oh well, problem solved now. I'm a mix of a Sainsburys/Asda/Aldi kind of shopper as they are on good bus routes home. Tesco is relatively easy to walk to (2.5 miles) but it's two buses home, one each on the very long sides of a triangle with a very convoluted variation since the bus routes changed. (4.6 miles by bus with the old best route, 6.8 miles with the new variation on the old second best route.). So, I only go when I've got a parcel to collect from the sorting office as it's across the road! I tend to walk to the shops and get the bus home.

Pleased you got them.

Morning all enjoy your weekend regardless of the weather. Got grandsons later so im thinking of some indoor activities and removing all breakables
Reminds me a little of an incident on a hiking trip in Tasmania years ago. We arrived at the forestry hut late in the afternoon.
There was a log book in each hut and in this one we read of the escapades of a possum called Black Pete. Apparently he was an invenerate thief of food stores. So after our evening meal all packs and food supplies were strung up with ropes.
As were talked at the fireplace a grey possum appeared down the chimney, followed by a second much smaller one.
We decided that this was Mrs Black Pete and child. They were very cute and looked a little timid.
Then we hear a rustle, followed by the sight of a large black possum clutching some plastic bags, jumping from the strung-up packs to the fireplace and up the chimney, promptly followed by Mrs and child. A trial of sultanas was the only evidence of their recent presence. Black Pete had even unzipped the pockets on the packs.
I know grandchildren are probably not as athletic as Black Pete but I would not doubt that they may have developed their own distraction techniques !! Good luck that that!!

Want to borrow mine? I'm reliably informed I definitely have them. Along with an uncanny ability to show up at exactly the wrong (or right, depending on your point of view) moment, and never from the direction that one might expect.

Afternoon all.

Thank you all once again from Knikki and the now properly Mrs Knikki :)

Everything went well yesterday only mild annoyance was all the Etch A Sketch and MiaoMiao coming off while I was in the shower, don't know why it did that but going to phone Abbott at some point ad complain.
Anyway had also packed another testing kit so used that during the day and bloods were fine all day, even after drinking some home made damson gin rocket fuel, man was I so totally trashed after that :hilarious:

And as some want a picture?

Here is one when we were in the car.
