Not diagnosed yet

Great that they’re normal (but please do get the printout).

I too have since found out that earlier fasting plasma glucose tests were not normal when I was told they were. I was prediabetic at 6.2mmol FIVE years before diagnoisis. High normal at 5.7 a year later having lost some weight, 8.3 a year ago just a few weeks before surgery having regained the weight and each time told normal. I was 7.3 at diagnosis with hb1ac of 54.

It could have been avoided maybe if someone followed up the first one. Oddly at that surgery the nurses at admission were under the impression I was diabetic and I said no I wasn’t that I’d recently had tests preadmission, assuming they had the wrong person. . Did they know? Why didn’t they tell me?

Thank you I doubt mine will come back normal. I found out I have been prediabetic for 2 years and no one at my GP surgery told me!

Starshine - Not everyone who is prediabetic becomes diabetic, even if they change absolutely nothing. I recall reading a study, from Australia where it found only around 30% of those identified as prediabetic went on to become diagnosed with diabetes.

Infuriatingly, I can't find the url for the study (before anyone asks!), but just suggesting you don't get too despondent a this stage, even if the waiting seems tortuous.
