Hi friends
I have purchased some Chia Seeds but in reading up on them I am a little frightened.I understand about not eating them dry, but it says you must drink plenty of water otherwise you get digestive problems. I want to make a chia pudding for breakfast can anyone help me please who has used them , are there any problems if they are soaked over night. I am not brave enough to put them dry over my food. xxx

Hi. This is what I do. 1000 mls black coffee, can be less, 70 g chia seeds mixed with 70 g peanut butter, crunching, mix together and then slowly add the coffee, mixing all the time, adding more coffee each time as the mixture becomes more runny. Let is still for sometime and the seeds will expand. If it is not thick enough, add some more seeds and pop in the fridge overnight.
I have mine with a mixture of walnuts and some rasps (in the summer).
Hope that helps.

I have chia pudding everyday as an afternoon snack. I add a 65mls bottle of Benecol no added sugar drink or unsweetened almond ‘milk’ to 4 teaspoons of seeds and leave it in the fridge for 24 hours. (When I get today’s out of the fridge I make tomorrow’s). I add a flavour extract (lemon or orange) when I use the plain Benecol. I always have it with a cup of coffee, and never experienced any problems.

Thank you so much both of you Zi will try both xx

I have some mixed in with my morning yogurt, I mix, sort my packed lunch, make my coffee and it all seems ready to go. Seems to be fine for me as I do drink plenty.

Rachox when you soak Chia seeds over night do you still have to drink plenty when you’ve eaten them please.

@Motherhen2014 I haven’t noticed a need to drink any extra when using chia seeds. I either make a pudding using cocoa, cream and almond milk or add them to drinks to bulk them up a bit.

Sure. For 4 portions:

33g erythritol (other sweeteners would work)
240ml unsweetened almond milk
25g of the lowest carb cocoa you can find (Lidl is current winner at 8.7g per 100g)
64g chia seeds
120ml double cream

Mix together, leave in fridge overnight. Sets firm.

Hi Rachox
I have bought all the ingredients to do the Chia pudding but was told to check with doctor and apparently because I am on warfarin I have been adviced not to use it as it could interfere with the warfarin I am taking.
So I Would like to know if anyone has used it if on blood thinners please. And did they get any side effects please.

Motherhen2014, it might be an idea to start a new thread with your amended query? Many threads meander off topic, but folks don't always revisit a thread to see where it has gone.
