In all likelyhood it's your liver dumping glucose. Some days, when I skip breakfast, my numbers go up, and up, and up, as my liver prolongs the Dawn Phenomenon, thinking it's doing me a favor. (If I notice that's happening, I have a a few grams of carbs so it knows it can quit it. Three grams or so is usually enough.). If you fast, it might help if you have some coffee with cream in the morning, that *could* singal the liver to stop too without breaking the fast all too much.

What I meant was do you have a "protein eating day" then fast the next day. i.e. does your higher reading correspond to eating more protein the day before and the lower reading correspond to eating nothing the previous day?

Not sure
On fasting sat (last meal at 6pm)sunday morning my bgs would be around 8-9mmol

The same for protein day my bgs would 8.5 to 9

But 2hours later on a fasting day my bgs go up to 11+

My bgs on protein day is 7-9mmol

30min later my bg drop even more on both

Hope this helps

Not especially.. when you say a "Fasting Saturday" then say you stop eating at 6 pm.. thats a bit confusing.. you don't fast all day?
And what do you mean by a protein day? Can you give some examples of food with timings and corresponding blood sugar readings?

I'm still not entirely clear what you are eating.. "veg" covers a multitude of carbs.. some very few others higher.. are you keeping a food diary along with your readings so you can see the impact of foods on your blood sugars?
