Diabetics R Us

Who has banned it? The TV company?

Clearcast, the body responsible for vetting ads before they are broadcast to the public, said it was in breach of rules banning political advertising laid down by the 2003 Communications Act.

“This was a film that Greenpeace made with a voice over by Emma Thompson,” said Iceland’s founder, Malcolm Walker. “We got permission to use it and take off the Greenpeace logo and use it as the Iceland Christmas ad. It would have blown the John Lewis ad out of the window. It was so emotional.”

One of the stipulations enshrined in the broadcast code for advertising practice (BCAP), is that an ad is prohibited if it is “directed towards a political end”.

“Clearcast and the broadcasters have to date been unable to clear this Iceland ad because we concerned that it doesn’t comply with the political rules of the BCAP code,” said a spokeswoman for Clearcast. “The creative submitted to us is linked to another organisation who have not yet been able to demonstrate compliance in this area.”

Aye, a consultant ENT. He's a lovely fella. The olive oil does indeed work even for compacted wax though it can take a few weeks. Compacted wax on or very near the ear drum can really affect hearing, when it comes out in a one-er you can really notice the difference.
Otitis Externa is a type of excema in the ear canal so skin and detritus build up and become hardened over time. Still not having the hoover done again, though.

Hey @Guzzler, my husband has the same condition. He made the mistake of going swimming in Lake Huron here in Canada and of course, went underwater! What a mess he ended up with:( Anyway, NP ordered Locacorten Vioform for him and it helped tremendously - are you on any drops? Blessings/L

Aye, the ENT initially prescribed two courses of antifungals then one course of antibiotic spray. He said 'It's like WWll in there!'. No treatment for the Otitis Externa, though. I sometimes use warm olive oil (from the chemist) if things get too bad and of course try to keep water out at all times. Hope your hubs doesn't have too much trouble with it.

P.S. I just checked and my BG is 6.8 after the Teddy Grahams. Not good, but could be much worse.
Good job they weren't the chocolate chip ones . On second thought about the same in carbs still as long as you enjoyed them.

Morning all

Up at 4.30 on a Saturday  what's that all about?

Hope you enjoyed them.

Have a good day.

H :)

If you find out what it's about please tell me as I'm up at 4:30 too. I get to sleep in on the weekends so it seems like every weekend I'm wide awake early but 4:30 is ridiculous.

I did enjoy the Teddy Grahams. Then last night I talked with a friend who was diagnosed T2 several years ago and just recently discovered keto and dropped 20 pounds. We were sharing our weight-loss successes and hopes of losing about 20 more. Then he told me he's never had a sweet tooth. Not fair. I wish I could have mine pulled! :)

We are all packed up and ready to set off on holiday for a week after lunch. Not going far - less than an hour's drive, but it will be a break from the builders. We always go to the same area in November, up to north Lancashire/south Cumbria, because we know it so well and love the place. Plus if the weather is totally foul we are near enough to home. We have been promised Wifi at the cottage, so hopefully I can keep in touch.

After my upset of yesterday evening I am in a far more approachable mood all thanks to a scheduled shopping trip which turned into a birthday buying gift trip (My b'day is imminent).
Retail therapy should be prescribed on the NHS (now wouldn't that set the cat amongst the pidgeons!).

This day always makes me think of amongst others of Ernest Blackmore a third cousin who was born in April 1900 and who was killed in action on 4 OCT 1915 during the The Battle of Loos

Had a phone call from neurologist a couple of days ago to tell me to stop taking one of my meds Imuran also known as Azathioprine as my Lymphocyte count was a bit low at 0.2 and it seems that puts me at risk of infections.

Not sure what the implications of this are nor if it has any bearing on diabetes or not.

It makes me very emotional and in need of many tissues throughout the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall and the march past at the Cenotaph. Always thinking of my granddad who was killed in action in WW1 before being able to marry my grandma, who nwas pregnant with my dad. The shame and embarassment of being a single unmarried mum in 1915 never left her throughout her long life, and dad grew up without a father. My thoughts are always with them. That war affected the whole population in so many different ways.
