My husband sells big data processing solutions and thinks that if I were to plug all the variables into a spreadsheet then analytics would give me predictive patterns.
Yep but what about all the variables we just don't know or can't measure or won't measure. Even if you exclude insulin and carbs I can think of:
Cortisol, adrenalin and oestrogen/progresterone (no idea if being testy raises your bgs?)
Company kept by afore mentioned carbs during a meal (fat, protein)
Quality of carbs
Exercise (HiiT, slow burn or weights...)
Time of day

As an engineering problem it is pretty complex thus impossible to be perfect with a 12 watt human brain!
On a positive note, I did strategise myself through a circuit class without the need for jelly babies or a high bg thus:
Did weights beforehand for 15 minutes to get my blood sugar up.
Unplugged pump for the duration of the class (45 minutes) to keep it around 6 whilst working hard and thus encouraging a further spurt of glucose. Very impressed with self !
...Weather, season ...

Morning off doing geeky stuff later.

Currently sat here at a 13.9 ~sigh~ sort of expected, just did not think so high, never mind, it was last night's meal which I'll stick in the T1 Food thread later. Saying that I would most defiantly have that again, just inject before bed.

Well that has been the week from hell. No matter how I try I just cant seem to get a flat line, with huge spikes followed by some dramatic drops

Last night for example, had a slightly later dinner around 7.15. BG were sitting at 6.9, had about 1/6 part of nan bread which I estimated to be around 30g of carbs. Come 11pm sitting at 8.3, which was OK. Woke at 7am to a 15.8????? Took 7 units correction dose and at 9am it had dropped to only 14.6. Seriously????????????

The Novoslow bottle I am using and Levemir I am sure are fine, cos I am getting some dramatic drops

I do have a bit of a cold/sore throat surely that cannot be having that much influence

My blood sugars haven't been very good for a few days, and I have a slight sore throat, and half a cold. as well.

They haven't been disastrous, but more unpredictable, and I've spent more time out of target, this last week.

It could be the cold, and sore throat.

Morning y'all, a nice 6.4 to wake to and a flattish line all night sleeping in till 9am, it's my eldest girls 26th birthday today and my youngest is 12 next Sunday so I'm feeling a little older today myself :p
I'm waiting for my Humalog to 'kick in' before the standard food, a trip to the crem then if my bloods are standing up I'm going for a swim and I'll catch the minutes silence at 11.

Have a decent Sunday :)

@smc4761 , did you have any curry with that nan?
I love curry (and nan) but find, even the veggie ones are fatty which hugely delays the carb absorption. So I always double (or combo) dose for curries now.
That said, @kev-w seems to be the curry king.

Hi @helensaramay No just the nan bread a selection of starters, chicken tikka bites, sheesh kebab and some donner kebab meat and a couple of small chicken drumsticks. Lots of protein I would imagine with the chicken but thats about all. Also had a double gin and slimline, but that was about 2 hours after meal.

Putting it down to sore throat and cold as @Alison54321 has suggested

If I eat a take away naan I call it 60g carbs but would expect to need a second jab after eating, donner meat's a minefield, some appears to have few carbs but others I find to be carb heavy, some curry houses work better than others I find, avoid 'shiny' looking sauces as I believe that's from the use of sugar.

Remembering my great grandad, Private Peter Bayford, who died exactly one week before the Armistice, today.

Sugars ok, woke up a low alarm at 3.8, so had a dextrose tan and turned the insulin tap off for an hour before it dipped too low. Steady around 5 now.

I adore curry, but don’t find the fat slows things down particularly - but then I don’t eat standard rice, so maybe that makes a difference? Had a prawn vindaloo last night, so dosed for the carbs in the veg as I sat down to eat, plus an extended two hour bolus for the protein. I don’t pre-bolus for any of my food though, unless I’m high. Last night I was at 4.5mmol before dinner, so had 1.5u for the 17g carbs straight away, followed by 0.75u over 2 hours for the 15g prawn protein. Went up to 6.6mmol after dinner, and came back to the mid fours overnight. I do similar with a carbs/protein guess if it’s a takeaway.

Off to Costco and Hobbycraft now... have a nice day, friends ❤️

And relax... Organist's nerdy moment here...Why Nimrod has to have so many awkward descending sevenths is beyond me, and it may have been on the cautiously subdued side - but it is done. Faure's Pavane was a blessed relief after that to finish off getting everyone out to the War Memorial! My role after that is to remain in church kind of keeping an eye on it, but so that I can let those who haven't gone out know when the two minutes silence is if we're not picking up what's going on via the vicar's radio mike!

A day of glorious sun here and plenty of remembrance events. I'd like to be outside doing some gardening but had treatment for sciatica Friday evening and told to do nothing like that for three days - pah! My front path'll be impassable soon from fallen leaves...and I'd quite like to do something physical other than walking...

Donor meat has a delayed carb action for me so i split the bolus 40/60 that seems to stop the rise going too high

Happy! Greek friend I stayed with in September and her husband are here and they, a lovely Polish friend, another Greek friend and her British husband are coming soon for British takeaway fish and chips, and wine, and fruit salad. We’ll drink many many toasts to the EU despite the Greek problems. Long live Erasmus too! Long live visa free travel! Long live human connections! Long live shared research and multinational friendships!

Er,.............. Long live long living?

Sounds like you were having a whale of a time!

What’s wrong with my quiche and dips?
The quiche is smoked salmon (forget that rubbish about real men and quiche) and I have two dips: beetroot and smoked mackerel.
I hear both fish and beetroot are good for your brain.
Just saying ...

There is nothing wrong with your quiche and I am sure it is the finest quiche in the all of the multiverse.

However every time some says "quiche" all that pops in to my head is 1974 and my parents dishing it out like it was the last supper, and since then never really like it...........Sorry.

Oh I do like quiche bit heavy on the carbs though??

OK my fellow colanders what do we think. Finally managed to get a flatish line with BG, hovering between 5 and 7 since about 2pm. just about to have dinner , 2 pork chops and a fairly standard portion of cooked cauliflower, maybe 10 g of carbs. Thats all.

So if my background Levemir is correct, on a ration of 1:5 for my Novoslow, I should only need 2 maybe 3 units of this. Come 10pm I should be sitting around 6 or 7?

Let the betting commence

I like quiche, I made some small tartlet size ones in the summer, I haven't had quiche for ages, I buy the individual gluten free ones and they are about 27 carbs, nice with some homemade coleslaw and salad.
