Type 1'stars R Us

Hi all, strange day yesterday as I had more hypos than I can remember ever having in one day, despite doing nothing extraordinary. Continued this morning though that may be due to a great evening with my closest friend during which a glass or three or four were consumed ;)
@Mel dCP the poppies are fab; I'd never be allowed to buy silver jewellery as my daughter-in-law's a jeweller in training with a passion for silver. She loves working on commissions, so anything I want......lucky me!

Woke up to a 4.5 that Libre said was LO, last day of this sensor though, so I’ll forgive it. Fuel pump has blown on my car, thought it was on its way out last week when the fuse popped a couple of times. So that’s me off the road for the weekend, hey ho. Not like it’s raining or anything.
I had a school reunion around 5 years ago...The main question people who remembered me was "Are you still diabetic??". I think my facial expression convinced them that I was, indeed, still diabetic lol

Now-ex-father-in-law: “how’s the diabetes, any better yet?”
Me: “nope, still terminal”

Morning Bird Spotters, Deep Sea Divers, Window Cleaners, Shop Keepers, Very Active Grandparents, SQL debuggers, Pin cushions et al.

My council fight was not too bad yesterday - just need a couple of emails and my sharps bin is booked for early Wednesday morning. Just means I need to remember when I get off my flight on Tuesday (off to the land of Hercules Poirot for a couple of days) to put the yellow bin out.
Today I will be discussing my Medical Exemption certificate renewal form with my local GP surgery receptionist. She is ... let's say ... as you may expect.

I am in awe of the creativity on this thread. reindeer and jewellery are lovely but there is also a great literal creativity from many of the members. Are you sure there are no stand up comedians in the crowd?

Thinking about Mel's jewellery, I met a silversmith earlier in the year on a fused glass course. She was looking for ways to add more to her creations. One of the downsides of fused glass is you don't get to see the finished products until they have been fired but she certainly had an eye for colour combinations and patience to cut the glass. My creations were a little more basic but still wearable and suitable as presents.
I love fused glass, I make silver bugs with dichroic glass bodies.... you never know what you’re going to get!

Afternoon fellow colanders.

Just looking for a wee bit of advice and your thoughts as my morning BG are driving me mad. When I get up in morning around 7am my BG will be around 7, I can live with that. I take my Novoslow at ratio of 1:4, only have 5 spoonfuls of porridge a wee drop milk so around 40g of carbs. If my BG are slightly higher i will take a correction dose and my ratio for that is 1 unit brings me down by 1

I can check my BG around 2 hours later and by this time it will have peaked at around 12 maybe 13, so it has jumped by around 6 steps. Come lunchtime around 12.30, I will do a check and the Libre shows a steady fall after around 2/2.5 hours and it will be back at 7 or where i would expect it to be.

I have tried adjusting the tome I take Novoslow anything from 10 mins to 40 mins before I eat but makes no difference, still get these huge spkikes and this really only happens at breakfast. So possible Dawn P causing some of this

In one sense the fact that it drops back by lunchtime means i am not overly concerned

Any thoughts???

Love the photos you guys are posting you are all so creative

I like the idea of an imaginary coffee, I'll tag along.
Quaffing one right now!

We didn't have the silver fittings (or a chance to make them). So they were a little flatter and squarer.
These were some of my attempts from the day

Could it be that you’re just spectacularly sensitive to carbs first thing? What happens if you skip breakfast or have something like eggs? If I wake up low, like my 3 today, I only need one dextrose tab to bring it back up, whereas later in the day I’d need two or three. For lots of people, mornings need an awful lot more insulin.

Morning Reindeer Makers, Bulb Planters, Kite Doctors, Fairy God Mothers, Rowers, Jewellers, Uncle Tom Cobbly and all,
@helensaramay love the greeting, all inclusive:)
My BG had a fun night. I slightly misjudged dinner so had to give myself a correction when I went to bed to bring myself down from 12. Then I woke 5 hours later with a BG of 2.8. Come on!

Noe today's diabetes task (in addition to finger pricking, carb counting and insulin dosing) is to get an appointment for my sharps bin to be collected.
Since pumping, I have been using 5 litre sharps bins (I didn't have any sharps bins before pumping but that's a different story). After about a year of having them collected every 2 or 3 months, I was concerned they were getting filled with plastic cannula inserters which can be recycled rather than sharp things. So, I decided to pull the sharp point out of the cannula inserter to reduce the sharps bin collection frequency and increase my recycling box levels. Eighteen months later and the first non-plastic filled sharps bin is nearly ready to collect. Unfortunately, in that time, the council has forgotten who I am and I have to go back to square one to register that I have diabetes, collect sharps, and want to get rid of them.
I don't think I'll bother telling them the bin also contains safety razors from my partner. I have no idea what he would do with them if I didn't have my yellow bins.

I am to be commended for my complete and utter professionalism whilst spending most of my working day nearer to 4 than is entirely comfortable in the active environment of my workplace. Today has been got through on copious amounts of Dextro, Full Fat cans of Coke and biting my tongue whilst dealing with the unasked for advice and gratuitous "support" from (Un)-Helpful Colleague.

Utterly Splendid Colleague (to whom I report in on these occasions, as it's his call as to if I'm safe to be near large machinery) just looked totally sympathetic, said "One of those days?" as I raided the fridge for the second can of Coke, and kept (Un)-Helpful Colleague occupied. Luckily, the biggest bit of machinery I was needed to work, and that was only to make sure the student operating him was doing it properly, was Henry The Hoover!

School Reunion? I could not think of a worse place to spend 5 minutes of my time than a whole evening unless I had a Molotov Cocktail to share.

Old style 70's grammar school where at least 3 of the former 'master' are spending time in one of Her Majesties Hotels for child abuse. But that is another story for another day.

On other more cheerful news BSL is in the low 4's so I'm have a rather fun day and going out for a Costa Coffee in a while.

Anyone want to tag along :)
Love to, just give me a minute to swim from Australia !!!

To add to the thought, "Say it with flowers" perhaps "Say it in glass" - wonderful creations. Is vulcanology in your stars??

Morning all! I’m off out to hit the streets with a spot of light political campaigning, currently on a 4.4 so might have to turn the cyborg down a bit. Horribly early for a Saturday so am listening to a punk-folk band called Ferocious Dog to get me going. And industrial quantities of coffee ;)

Libre is due to expire in two hours, but the MiaoMiao will read it for another 12 after that, so I can swap it over to the new one when I get home. That’s a very useful feature! Put the new one on last night and had my first bleeder, which quite amused the family. It feels a bit bruised, but am sure it will settle.

Hope you all have a lovely day ❤️

Morning all another night in the green which is nice.

There is an exhibition for Remembrance Day in the village we are going to trundle along to later. I suspect that nearly most of the men folk went, as in those days this was one of the many farming communities up and down the land that headed the call to arms in 1914.

Mornin y'all, 2 good nights followed by a sleeping 12 last night grrrr, and that was after a lower carb frittata & rice tea, went to bed on a 6.8 too so poppycock and fiddlesticks :)

My weekend starts at lunchtime....
