Hi all,

Some mornings around 10 to 20 minutes after I get up I get a nasty wave of nausea. I have ordered my blood glucose meter so can't test yet and am only prediabetic..but is this possible sugar level related or just something else.

Thank you

Hello @AngiH Sorry to hear this, it sounds unpleasant. From my experience in regards to blood sugars I haven't come across this so I would suggest you make an appointment with your GP and get yourself checked out, always best to consult a professional for reassurance, best wishes.

Agree. And maybe a pregnancy test if there is even a remote possibility? After all that's the most common reason for nausea in the morning.
Good luck!

Ok I've been to docs for months with nausea and dizzy spells and they just say it's blood pressure.. definitely not pregnant, I'm nearly 49 haha. At least I know it's not a diabetes symptom. Thank you.

Hi AngiH. Agree that is is unlikely to be bigh blood sugars unless it is happening after breakfast? Are you taking any meds that this is a side effect of? Assuming docs have thought about this too! The other thing to look at would be nutritional deficiencies as nausea can indicate a lack of B5 or zinc. Don't go and buy tablets without seeing a dietician, but you could try eating foods such as:
B5 -
Mushrooms, watercress, broccoli

Strawberries and avocados

Lentils and whole-wheat

Works best with other B vitamins, Biotin and folic acid.

Zinc -
Oysters, haddock, lamb and prawns and egg yolk

Ginger root
May not work but won't hurt you! Good luck with the testing btw.

Thank you, I did have a B12 deficiency last year but after the initial 2 week course of injections it was never mentioned again. It could be that..

Worth a try in that if you have previously been b12 deficient you may also be b5 deficient. Not sure you can get the latter in a jab though!
