I had been on crestor10 mg for about 10 years and had always good control of cholesterol levels .
Recently, my blood work came up with elevated readings 340-440 of CK. My family doctor advised me to stop taking Crestor 10 mg that to his opinion is the of high CK numbers.
I am a patient with stent installed in my heart, diabetic type 2 ,recent HbH1c 7.3%.
Can anybody advise whether it would be logical to stop the Crestor totally or I should start with reduced dozes such as half pills a day or 1 tab in alternate days?

I don't think anyone here can give you that advice. If you have existing cardiovascular disease - and your stent is probably a big clue there - then asking anyone other than a competent medic for the advice you are looking for is like playing Russian Roulette.

You know what you have to do.

Sometimes shared experience with similar conditions from forum members help a lot. You may find this like "playing Russian Roulette", but myself in the past got a lot of valuable advice from this forum through exchange of experiences. So, this is totally up to you what to take from the forum.

You are right Catherine that medical advices should not be given through this forum. I believe most forum members are quite knowledgeable about their body and health. No one probably follow the advice/comments without consulting the GP/Specialist . But experience sharing has a great benefit t too. At least you know what other people think, you are not alone in similar situation . So, I do not see problem at all. If it was not allowed, why there is a forum topics like Drugs and medications in this forum? What can be posted under this section??

You are asking about something that we cannot answer. You have been advised to stop taking this medication by your family Dr. If you feel that you need to gradually do this then you need to ask him.
People do relate their experiences with medication but nobody here is medically qualified to tell people about dosage, what medication to take, when to stop medication etc.................that is the role of your HCP.

Change wording from “advice” to “personal experiences”

It’s helpful.
This is a post from 3yrs ago, but I would like to reiterate that giving advice about medication doses is against Forum rules. There is a subtle difference between that and asking about personal experiences of, for example side effects of Metformin. Hence the existence of this sub forum.

Isn’t that what I wrote?

Ask for the “personal experience” rather than “advice”?

Indeed I only quoted your post in case you hadn’t noticed the age of the thread
