Sometimes I feel like I am going mad!.
I live with being Autistic, being diabetic, having fibromyalgia, having had two strokes and a host of other minor ailments and just think life would be so much easier if, instead of a job in a company with laudable aims but poor management and no sense of accomplishment/reward, I was actually doing something I looked forward to.
I am 52. Spent 23 years in the Civil Service and have now spent 6 years in my current post where there is no prospect of advancement or promotion and managers express their disappointment with me for feeling "under valued"!.
Its not about adaptations for being Autistic, they have been done. Its about doing something I want to do or gives me that sense of going home at days end thinking "Yeah, that was a good day".
Self-employment is suggested a lot. But I have no self-employment skills.
Would love to work in the travel industry but I am 52 (almost 53) and my wide experience of travel counts for nothing when put up against a graduate with a degree in tourism who has never been outside the UK!.
Sorry for the rant!.
