Hi @Panda poo ,

Welcome to the forum.

Could you elaborate with a brief of events leading upto the 19th of Jan?
What type of insulin or other medication were you prescribed upto that point?

No doctor can explain why

But I am sure they could explain why they think you are no longer a type 1? How did you come to be diagnosed in the first place, I appreciate it was a long time ago but can you remember? What has changed for you personally, your blood results for example? I suspect you were a type 2 on insulin all along because if they had proof that you were 'cured' of type 1 (without a pancreas implant for example) then you and they would be all over the news.

Edited to add; Mr Pot got there before me!

Hi, Triscornia, I see from your other posts that your son has recently been dx'd T1, so it might be that you will be grabbing at any slim chance at the moment.

That's quite normal in the early days after dx, but please don't be gulled by this thread.

I would love it if there has been some major developments along the lines suggested by panda poo, but, colour me sceptical, the thread has all the hallmarks of a bored teenager just deciding to do a tiresome troll wind-up.

I had type1.

Did anything significantly change leading upto the reassessment of your diabetic diagnosis by your doctor after 40 years?
For instance diatary changes & or maybe weightloss with increased activity levels regarding excersise?

(The aforementioned will not "reverse" or cure T1. But can aid positive management of the condition.)

Hi @Scott-C ,

Indeed. I agree with your sentiment. (On reserved principle.)

Pre Tinternet days I was an avid reader of "New scienst" when feature in the mag came up regarding "encouraging lab tests. (Mice.) But alas.... ;)

However, let's not "bomb the bridge" for suspected "trolls" hiding under it, till we know what side of the river this structure is leading... :)

So you had flu. & were tested at "11.4mmol" with "hypo" symptoms whilst hospitalised. What were your BG levels & HBA1c cruising at prior to this event?

We have had a member post before who was diagnosed a long time ago, told they would be insulin dependent for life and used insulin for decades, before being rediagnosed and switched to oral meds. I believe the final diagnosis was one of the MODYs.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember the poster’s name.

Fair enough, Jay - there's a possibility that the OP is T2 on insulin and then told not to, or mody/lada, so I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt, but until there's some deeper clarification from the OP about the issue, it's looking very much like a troll drive-by.

We as T1s have all been round the "block.."

Pandas, regarding diatary requirement "eats shoots & leaves." ;)

Deeper clarification is required.. :)

There are some people who are told they are type ones when they are not - the best man at my sister's wedding, someone my brother in law had known from childhood, was diagnosed as type one and put on insulin.
He lost everything due to the hypos, his job, his house, his licence to drive even a car (he had been a lorry driver) and all contact with his family - he became disoriented and rather violent quite frequently.
Decades after the diagnosis, a couple of years ago now, he got a phone call from the new consultant at the hospital in Shefield, Yorkshire, telling him to stop the insulin at once, as he should not be taking it. After an unannounced visit to my sister and brother in law, which was very emotional, he left their house and has not been in contact since. They are concerned about him, but they have no way to find him.
