I take 750 Glucophage XR my Doctor increased it to 1000 mg, I have been having tummy pains, is it the same if I take Glucophage 500 twice a day. Thanks
 
As you are on the slow release version take 500mg in the morning with food and 500mg in the evening with food. If the tummy upset persists see your GP or nurse again. They should have advised you on dosage and times more clearly.

I think most people will take 1000mg or 2000mg divided into two, morning and evening. As guzzler has suggested, if tummy pains persist, inform DN/GP. May I also suggest that you visit https://yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/, not only as a source of information about the medication you are taking but somewhere to log your experience if you have side effects.
 
Thanks for reply I live overseas and can only get 750 XR and 1000 XR no 500XR so it will be normal 500 Glucophage tablet twice a day should that be ok to try.
 
Hi. For many years I was on 2000mg of Glucophage SR with 1000mg taken morning and evening. I had no problems whatsoever except for the metallic taste for the first 6 months.
