Meant to say - the coffee this morning is perfect. Fresh made, very strong, black no sweetener - just oodles of fresh coffee flavour. Is there a drooling emoji?

I drink mainly tea :joyful: so coffee first thing in the morning, is a little too much for me, but enjoy yours @WuTwo

Good morning friends Romans’ countrymen

Bright sunny but blistering - nope

Have a good day

Back then, so many of the female actor's screamed a lot when scared and become hysterical, nowadays they can kick a*s, but I did like that remake.
Invasion of the Body snatcher's, is another oldie, but one of my favourites is The day the Earth stood still, loved Michael Rennie as Klaatu, for 1951 this is a cracking golden oldie

Morning my pancreatically challenged cums hope you are all having a good day.

One of the joys of being off work with the lurgy is I get to catch up on films I have been meaning to watch. Watched The General, with Buster Keaton yesterday, black and white silent movie from 1926. At the time the stunt at the end was the most expensive stunt ever made on film and indeed remained the most expensive silent movie stunt. Keaton at that time was also the best paid actor in the land.

His female star Marion Mack however was like many actress in those days who just seem to scream a lot, well you have to imagine and look all doe eyed at her male star. They would also do their own stunts back then none of this CGI nonsense or stunt doubles.

Me thinks I will go an watch another few old silent movies today, feeling poorly but nostalgic

Enjoy the rest of your day

Sooo, husband may (or may not) be about to lose his job. We should know more in a week or two. Wondering if he becomes house-husband I can train him to mow lawns, fill and empty dishwasher, manage washing and do child’s hair for school?

Morning all!

Today's Big Clean task is the kitchen... the food cupboards are all clean and sorted, and I'm just sitting down before deciding what the next bit is. The oven can definitely wait until the next Big Clean - it got done not so long ago after a big cooking session which got a bit messy and I'm not going to do another big cooking session until I've defrosted the freezer. Once the cupboards are done, the rest is never as slow as I think it's going to be, because I do keep the kitchen pretty clear and clean (years of cooking for a lot of people means I've got a routine for it well sorted and seems to happen automatically... um, friends have been known to complain about my seeming inability to sit down after a main meal until the washing up is done.)

Actually, the next bit is a biscuit - lots of up and down the stepladder uses up the blood sugars at a rapid rate for me!

Oh heck - it's horrid waiting around for definite news about jobs. Hope you find out sooner rather than later!

Morning all.
The view through my round window is sunny but the tea is lacking. There may have been some with breakfast but I bought myself some yoghurt (and spoons) so I could work in my room and there is no kettle in my room.
Ho Hum. As Gloria said "I will survive".
Better get my butt in gear, check out and start my log day: I should land in Heathrow at 22:50 this evening.
? Tepid tea using the water from the hot water tap ??

Morning all running a bit high this morning, not sure why, hope it's not impending lurgy..... @helensaramay I used to travel for work in the way you do and I'm so glad I don't do it any more. I know a lot about the inside of hotel rooms, airports, trains and taxis, and motorways when in the UK, far less about any of the places I worked in. Very happy that life is now considerably slower and I have more time at home. I hope you enjoy the travel more than I did!

@Diakat, hope the news when it eventually arrives is good. The waiting's awful, feel for you both

Another corporate cliffhanger? Hateful how the keep you waiting in suspense, so hugs to you all and good luck.

You can’t beat the oldies, despite the screaming doe eyed numpties. Could you imagine Katherine Hepburn or Bette Davis putting up with it? I think KH would have joined the Reds under the Beds

Morning all, happy Tuesday!

I love the original Day the Earth Stood Still, that and Forbidden Planet are two of my favourite films.

Bloods finally back in range last night, and smooth overnight. Dropping into the 3s now, so clearly need to tweak my basal rate. Foot on the floor expected to kick in imminently, and as I’m not going anywhere I’ll let it correct itself! Planning some sewing today :)

I love the original version of The Thing, that giant carrot creature.

Hi @Mel dCP,
I believe in natural sewing, no straight lines in nature, nor in my machine sewing !!
And measure twice, cut once !!
Unfortunately ripstop nylon or polyester material once creased will not iron out flat, which makes accuracy a problem with kite making.
If you look at Karl Longbottom kites though, he manages to make some 'inner' clothing- like kites - the closest to clothing I think kites get !!
I hope you do not suffer any needle stabs but at least the resultant blood drop will serve a further purpose !!

@Japes having moved house and leaving my lovely Miele Pyro turn all burnt on muck to dust oven behind, I inherited one that needed cleaning urgh! Just paid a man to do it £45 took him 11/2 hrs and is immaculate. Shall never clean an oven again.
@Diakat sending good vibes that redundancy doesn’t occur.

Coffee by the pond, bliss! The fish are winding up the Clockwork Orange for the Spring Mayhem, really hoping that there are some babies this year. Nasty cannibals eat their own eggs - they’ve either got no sense or have worked out that they just don’t want to be bovvered.
Down in the unweeded veg area there’s forget me not in a blue mass, flowering rocket, fruit trees in bloom and lots of violets. Happy. I could get used to this touch-me-not way of gardening, it’s not a very large area but it’s crammed with delights.
Himindoors doesn’t do weeding - he finds it hard to recognise all but nettles, brambles and bind weed
