So I have been incredibly low carb bar a tiny amount in veg etc
Since yesterday.

I’m now finding I’m craving and struggling a bit.

On Tuesday I’ll go back to eating my usual lower carb but I really want to stay really low carb till then.

But I am struggling a bit.

So just some words of encouragement please.

I’m having gammon and salad for dinner. I’ve had salad for lunch and I’ve just had hot choc because I was raiding.

Was it one of the instant hot chocolates?

Cravings are soooo challenging at times, it looks like you could up your fat intake for today though, that may help. Sometimes a craving is just hunger.

You can do this! The rewards at the end are worth it.

It was the highlights which is low carb. Think it’s 3. Something.

I was hungry so I had gorilla protein bar thing, then peanut butter then realised I was just snacking so had hot choc.

Sugars weren’t low but were low 5s and I’m not always brilliant that level. After all my Easter egg debacle few days ago figured it was getting used to normal sugars again.

I had 2 packs of pancetta on my salad and feta cheese so thought that would be fatty enough.

Having salad again for dinner. Could do some egg.

@Cana I know how tough it is, for the first few months of LCHC I was actually getting anxiety in the supermarket! You can do this though, it's paying forwards to a better tomorrow really. Old habits die hard is such an apt phrase here but it's best to do that than let yourself fall deeper into the metabolic minefield. We'll always be here on the forums to pick you back up if need by, moments of weakness are just that, moments.

Depending on what sweetener the bar had (likely maltitol) that may have sparked cravings and maybe a blood sugar spike. For some people they can be every bit as bad as other carbs. I’d read the label on the peanut butter. They range from 4.6% to about 13% carbs depending on the make. Quite a difference

Think of your blood sugars as a toddler. Take away their favourite toy (glucose aka carbs) and they have a tantrum, make you feel rubbish and demand (crave) more. Ignore the tantrum long enough and they start to behave. Easier said than done, both carb cravings and toddler tantrums.

The bar didn’t do anything, think it went to 7.1.

From?

Lucky you if it didn’t and didn’t upset your digestion. I struggle horribly and they set my cravings off.

5.9 I think.
I’ve kept eye on digestion because it doesn’t take a lot to set the IBS off. When I had one yesterday I was worried but it didn’t do anything.

Will salads not get boring after a while. Do you like other vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, courgette, leeks, peppers, onions, mushrooms (OK not exactly a vegetable). I suppose I've been lucky, I love vegetables.

I think I’m better with salad because I put dressing in it (that did nothing to me yesterday- yay)

I’m good with veg if in a dish. I like them roasted but I suppose I get bored of all food if I have it all the time.

I had it twice yesterday just because I didn’t want to have many carbs. And I just couldn’t be bothered to cook anything. Salad was ready from lunch so popped gammon in the oven, fried 2 eggs and was all done!!

Tomatoes? They are a terrible trigger for me and I don’t even enjoy them all that much.

I love tomatoes. Roasted, grilled, raw (well out if the fridge).

Any pasta dishes I would always choose tomato base.

Dr argues this is because my body is so heavily addicted to sugar.

I argue I just prefer tomatoey things over creamy things. Creamy things tend to make me feel sick to stir doesn’t.

This argument happens every Dr visit lol

I love raw cauli and broccoli. Always have them in a salad, plus raw carrot sticks (or grated carrot). Also red and orange peppers go nicely in a salad (raw).

You can do it! I find smelling things helps. My kids are really used to me asking if I can smell what they are eating. Most of the time now I sniff and think, no it does nothing for me. They say if you smell something several times your brain thinks it’s eaten it. Works for me anyway. Good luck x
