Is that even remotely possible?!!! I’ve asked my non low carb friend to get the actual numbers as I’m pretty sure that’s a mistake.

I would say she would be dead if that were correct.
Total is the total of the HDL + LDL + 46% of the trigs (in the UK measurements)

Is your friend a gloopy puddle?

Sounds like she’s quoted just one component (either HDL or LDL) not the total?

Know mine was low at 3 on diagnosis that was mostly LDL but I did ask her to check!

That’s for the equation, I didn’t know that one.

As the standard range for total cholesterol is 3 to 5 (4 for diabetics), anything lower than 3 needs attention.

Poor brain must be starving for it to be that low!

I could lend her some of mine. Mine always adds up to an inconveniently large number.

Well, it did until my GP got the hang of lipids (The AndBreathe Two Way Learning Programme - Patent Pending/Trade Mark/Copyright and all that - was a roaring success).

Now she likes my numbers, except the inconvenient total. :banghead:

Sounds like you’ve trained her well! My totals are always just at the ‘recommended’ levels so my GP’s just smile. When I was diagnosed and very unhealthy, they sat at 3 and my then GP thought that was ace, and so did I until I discovered that most of that was trigs and LDL.

It took a while, with academic papers shared, website, Ken Sikaris YouTube urls (we're now both groupies to his easy, relaxed ways of explaning things), and so on.

One day, I was expecting yet another such discussion, when she respnded, "You must be delighted with those numbers". I nearly fainted!

I now have full access to my full medical records online, and I haven't found anywhere she has called me a bonkers old bat, so that's good enough for me. :)
