What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.6 this morning
Just received my aortic embolism test date for June. Apparently one of the joys, alongside colonic cancer screening, of getting older. Read through the bumf and it seems simple enough, echo scan and they give you the result then and there :)

5.0 today. Very happy with that especially as I had some of my 100% dark chocolate Easter egg quite late last night.
@zauberflote ‘Jennyfur’ is genius! Makes me want to get another cat just to name her that.
@HarrisonK good luck with the aortic embolism test, I haven’t been offered that - though I did get the bowel cancer screening test. I find it very reassuring to have these sorts of screens.
@SaskiaKC and @gennepher yes! You must definitely dig out your slow cookers for bone broth, you wont regret it. I tend not to drink it neat like many do, but I reduce it down then freeze in ice cubes so its ready to add to anything I’m cooking. So much nicer and healthier than a shop bought stock cube.

Indeed, I am a big supporter of our NHS and its continued existence.

100% dark chocolate Easter egg
This is a thing?? :woot: I have never seen one and now must hunt one down :)

I will dig it out tomorrow!
This thread is great with all the hints, advice, suggestions...and new pronunciations on my name....

Morning...slept like a log last night so much so I'm full of aches & pains...stretching myself slowly before I make the coffee there'd be a total panic if I couldn't get the lid of the kilner jar which contains the precious elixir...my favourite blend of coffee...coffee made & I'm coming to terms with my waking 6.7...I have been misbehaving dreadfully recently so no hugs thank you;)

Well there you go, back to normal sleeping patterns (for me at least, and at least on this one night) - only up once during the night, nothing that acute to cause any trouble, my chimp is even now still slumbering on.

So, a check of the wonder wheel of mirth and merriments resulted in a 4.3 at 0640. According to the graph it hovered fairly flat at about 5-5.5 during the night, dived down to 3.0 at around 0600 so on an upward trend when I tested. Only five minutes later is was at 4.7 - a demonstration of the lottery of the fasting stab in the dark.

Have a great day if you can, out on my motorcycle this morning to see if I can find any road kill on the North Yorkshire Moors.

9.1 this morning at 7 am

The drain repair people came finally yesterday at 8 am. They were a good crew, full of energy, laughs, and jokes. Worked like trojans. Weather was good for them. They stayed late to make a 2 day job into one day for me, so finished at 6pm. They were brilliant.

Am in a rush this morning. Writing this while waking up with coffee. I have all day hospital appointment. I have cochlear implant from a few years ago. I had no hearing before then. So in my late 60’s I am learning to hear for first time. (Hospital has not implanted an elderly adult profoundly deaf from birth before so I am an experiment). Brain is not happy with this new input of sound it has never had before I don’t hear full words like hearing people. I just hear bits of sounds which my brain is still trying to work out, and it leaves me demented trying to work it out some days.

I was offered a cochlear speech processor upgrade. And I am getting that today, and I am being reprogrammed as well. Last time they reprogrammed me it didn’t go well, my brain was not happy with the new sound range. Long story.

Got to move.
Breakfast is eggs on the run...and cheese...

Haven’t time to read through your posts. Will check out your posts tonight if Brain is functioning.

Take care x

From Hotel Chocolat, I got one for Easter and scoffed it quite quickly so popped into the Truro branch afterwards and picked up 2 more which were in the sale by then!
Only 5.6 g carbs per 100g so even if I went mad and ate the whole thing in 1 sitting it wouldn’t do too much damage. It is VERY dark and bitter though, which I like now - can’t believe how my taste has changed, I only used to like Cadbury’s Dairy Milk.

good morning all :)

5.1 today

here we go again, up and hopefully down ;)

Think I overdid the bush chopping yesterday, bits of me are creaking this morning, probably because I also decided to do some raking up here before we went to mum's.
The gorse bush outside her gate I decided to tackle is looking decidedly worse than I am though, I was just going to trim it back a bit, but then I got ambitious :hilarious: still have some other stuff to trim back but that can wait for another day.

1st of May already and it's looking pretty grey here this morning so perhaps no gardening today, I'll take myself off for a walk instead which will work out some of the creaky bits.

Rabbits, rabbits and I hope your day treats you well :)

Good luck gennepher hope all goes well x

Ah that’s not the same as mine, which was from Hotel Chocolate but I love Montezuma’s absolute black chocolate bars too ( Sainsbury’s sell them) so great result. I did wonder if they made an Easter egg.
Great that its 1/2 price now too - I did the same in January and bought a Hotel Chocolate advent calendar half price too!
