Type 2 Over seas travel with Meds

I travel overseas for work normally at short notice. This could be for just the day or for a week or more.

Are there any issues taking my Meds and test meter as hand luggage?

No, though it doesn't hurt to have a letter from your doctor or specialist stating what your meds are and that you are diabetic. (I've only wished I had one once in decades of overseas travelling, and I as I didn't have it I got away with an old "diabetic on insulin" medical card that I'd kept from decades previously.) It's generally good practice to have a copy of your prescription script with you, just in case you end up needing medical care.

Just make sure you're covered by health insurance of some sort, but that applies whether you are or aren't diabetic.
 
Thanks medical cover is arranged by work but will check when it’s a family holiday.

Will ring my GP and arrange a letter to keep with me.

Hi Phil, I am sure you are aware but just make sure work knows you have diabetes, sometimes their 'standard' insurance might not cover specific health conditions. If it's anything like my work everything is 'standard' so I'd ask to see the policy too, there may be restrictions on it. x
 
I've had occasional small problems with my insulin pens going through the scanner and have had the bag searched but then OK
Don't forget to take spare batteries for your meter

Thanks. Already sorted. My line manager has been very helpful and understanding.
