Type 1 Viscous cycle of hypos and highs?!

Has anyone ever seemed to get stuck in a cycle of hypos and highs? I'm literally bouncing around, as soon as I think it's levelling out I spoke or drop.

What do people use as hypo treatments? I wonder if I'm over correcting? Feel so lost!

FYI Ive recently started using libre, I'm on the 6 month trial to see if it helps me. Absolutely love it so would really like to keep finding for it!!!

it’s quite easy to over treat the highs whilst using the libre, just try and ease off the gas if you can and be a little more patient, I have days like yours but have to remind myself that the spikes are temporary so try and not over treat otherwise you will end up in the cycle of high low.
 
Try injecting around 20 mins before eating or as close to that as possible as this avoids spikes I have found in my case and avoids over-treating which is extremely tempting as I also suffered from this when I started out with the libre. If this does not work you may want to consider increasing long acting insulin dosage and decreasing rapid acting insulin dosage slightly

Hi,

Are you backing up the testing for hypos with a fingerprick meter?

I find there can be a "lag" in response to the Libre when responding to lows, it's easy to panic & over treat.. If you check periodically with the BG meter, you may find it less alarming & more reassuring of a rise?
 
Watching this as I'm.also having continuous highs and lows too often
 
Once you have a hypo follow up ones are more likely - so trying to treat or correct moderately is a good idea.
What do you use to treat?

Do you know what you're a life saver mentioning this! I remember now when giving me the libre they said about this and with all the other information overload I forgot!

I did this 3 am his morning and so far so good. Usually with a nightime hypo I'd wake up high but I didn't!!

You might only need one digestive to avoid a peak.
 
Hi @Sunshine2297 as Jaylee has said, check your lows/highs with a finger prick test as the Libre can be a fair bit out when hi/Lo. I use Jelly Babies myself for lows, 3 JBs = 15g carb eat those then check 15 mins later and repeat if necessary. You do the right thing with the digestive biscuits also.

Hey, it's easy to forget in the melee of a hypo.

It's also easy to over doo the biscuits too.. There's 9.2 gram of carb in a digestive.

I use JBs. Pending on how low I am usually, 1 as a nudge up.

Strangely, I'm in the process of applying for a Libre on script? (I self fund.)
Currently sending the scaned data to the specialist on "Libreview?"

My advice there would be add your meter readings to the notes along with carbs consumed during hypo events.
You may get questioned/queried when the Libre simply says "LOW.?" The low on the Libre can be read by the meter.
These guys are always concerned (in my experience.) with the hypo frequency & how they are handled. It's a pain. But the more info to back up your memory of such events, the better.. :)

When I first started with the libre, I kept forgetting that it lags 20 minutes behind realtime. It is great for trends, but I don't trust it an inch when it reads under 4. If you get a low always follow it up with a finger prick.
