Type 1 Pneumococcal vaccine

I have had a text today offering me the Pneumococcal vaccination.
I am not over 65, but I am in my 31st year as type 1, so I was wondering why now ?
Has anyone else been offered this recently ? I looked it up online and found this, was surprised to see Coeliac disease listed.

You're considered to be at a higher risk of a pneumococcal infection if you have:

• had your spleen removed, your spleen does not work properly, or you're at risk of your spleen not working properly in future (for example, if you have coeliac disease)
• a long-term respiratory disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
• heart disease, such as congenital heart disease
• chronic kidney disease
• chronic liver disease, such as liver cirrhosis
• diabetes
• a suppressed immune system caused by a health condition, such as HIV
• a suppressed immune system caused by medicines, such as chemotherapy or steroid tablets

I had mine about ten years ago, as part of the standard list of things they like diabetics to have.

I got the pneumonia vaccine as a bonus one year when I turned up for my flu jab - was probably about a decade ago though - the nurse told me she had a bonus for me and then told me it was another jab lol

I had mine about 15 years ago I think, I was a teenager anyway (now 32 )

Thanks guys for all of your replies, it would seem some of us have been over looked then.

I have just had another text informing me the previous message was sent by mistake and not to contact the surgeries partnerships. They also stated if this is incorrect, they will contact me and they are sorry for any inconvenience caused!!

I had this jab about 2 years ago. Apparently, in different areas it is offered in different crcumstances,. Some CCGs seem to offer it only once in a lifetime, like mine, once I reached around 65. Other renew it every so often. I think I can remember reading that sonewhere it was being offered to diabetics every 5 years or so.

Other renew it every so often. I think I can remember reading that sonewhere it was being offered to diabetics every 5 years or so.

I think there are 2 different vaccinations, one is a one-off and the other needs to be done every however many years

I had the pneumovax a fair while ago when I was in my early sixties, I had two injection over two years as I have a COPD.

I had it last year apart from being over 65 and having diabetes being myasthenic means the flu or pneumonia for me could trigger a myasthenic crisis.
