Only registered here today but I've been Type 2 for at least 10 years now. For many years I have suffered from cold hands & cold toes mainly. But sometimes the pain in my feet can be excruciating. I'm not talking pins n needles but real random stabbing pains. It will come on quite randomly and some days better than others. Today my feet feel quite warm and pain free. But tonight will probs be bad. I was offered Gabapentin at one point but didn't take them as I heard bad things about them. Anybody else suffer with this and have any thoughts/advice? Cheers

Just a thought but have you considered Raynaud’s disease?

Yes, I forgot to mention. I read about that too and I used to be on beta-blockers years ago and they can lead to Reynauds disease and maybe that explains cold hands but the stabbing pain I get in feet sometimes is unbearable. Thankfully it is a fleeting pain i.e prob lasts about a second, but it's intense.

I know the burning, stabbing pain only too well! I'm on Pregabalin which helps a bit.

Thanks for replying. When you say Pregabalin helps a bit, would you say it is worth taking? Do you get any side affects? Thanks

I've been lucky not to have any side affects from Pregabalin. I would say that for me, its been worth taking as I don't wake up during the night as much. I'm unlucky enough to now be getting constant pins and needles in my hands too. Also lose my balance sometimes. Neuropathy is just awful so I do sympathise

Might be a B12 deficiency or similar? I have the same issues but am vitamin D deficient and am also in thyroxine ( hands always freezing ). I’d ask to get these levels checked as a blood test doesn’t incorporate those specifics.
