A caller said they had recently been diagnosed as T1 at age 67. Dr Sarah said that wasn't possible and it would be T2. Really? Guess who isn't keeping up with knowledge of LADA?

If I got diagnosed right now I'd be asking for a c peptide test to check how much insulin I was still making. Know a few people who've gotten seriously ill with type 1 because of this fallacy.

I heard it as well and my first thought was that she was dismissive and jumped to the, probably, incorrect conclusion. I just hope the caller didn’t take her at her word and decide his partner (who had just been diagnosed with T1) had nothing worry about.

I've had diabetes my whole life and other than diabetes specialists and people with diabetes themselves I have found most people in the medical profession have had a very limited understanding of the condition - I think text books often fail to include a lot of factors.

Aye I heard that and my head stared auto-shaking

'For' or from? :p

Worrying though when you hear things like that and just furthers all the many misunderstandings and misconceptions about the different conditions...

She's a TV and radio pundit, that's it. Not an expert on anything, like many GPs. Sanctimonious and self aggrandising too. Have I made it clear yet that I think she's an A&^*?
