Hello all,
I havent posted in some time as life has been carrying on after diagnosis of type 1 17 months ago.
So i had my hospital appointment via the phone today and they are a bit baffled by me.
My c-peptide was 1380.
On diagnosis it was 395. (If anyone has a pocture of the scale it would really help me)
1380 sounds insanely high/odd! (I think i had breakfast a couple of hours before it if that would make a difference?)
My HBa1c was 56 at diagnosis and has been 49, 38 and now 34. I was tested for Gad antibodies at diagnosis and they said the levels were raised (hence type 1) but now they cant find the results as the consultant has left.
Im 37 around 10 and half stone, physically active and eat really well.
They have now told me to stop insulin and see what happens while monitoring bg. Morning is always like clockwork at 4.9 or 5.
I have only been doing 2 units of levemir at 9pm every night for the last 17 months and the odd bit of fast acting if 'carbing out'.
They want to do mote tests but it wont be for some time due to the current situation, so any help/advice/knowledge greatfully received!

Confusing indeed since your test results sound weird unless we are comparing apples with pears because the UK and US numbers reference a totally different scale for normal!

I guess whether it is autoimmune (classic type 1) or MODY then you may benefit from keeping carbs low so you keep insulin requirements low too and dampening sources of inflammation in any case such as processed foods with vegetable oils and sugar being the main culprits.
I have a pal who thinks she is MODY but is treated as type 1 because they won't do a genetic test until her daughter has symptoms (she is getting the daughter to eat low carb to maintain her beta cell production).
