Had a strange turn at work

Hiya guys so In March got diagnosed diabetic with HbA1c of 101 and on Wednesday got my latest HbA1c of 64 even my cholesterol has gone from 7 to 2 and she advised me on certain info as due to this covid stuff I haven’t been able to talk to them much and given a metre to test with prescription strips as I had already bought one from Amazon pricey (test strip) so yesterday before breakfast6,8 then 2 hours 8.1 had a break at 1150 sugars were 7.1 I couldn’t test 2 hours after but around 3 started feeling dizzy and very shaky Tired white faced also I think I may have started to get breathe less so I checked about 350 my bloods were 13.5 for lunch I had 5 small bits watermelon 6 raspberry and half a pot of Lidl snack bacon and chick pasta I’m thinking even though the pasta was very low in sugar it was the course I had to go sit down and drink 2 litres cold water could it be this or do you think it was maybe a mixture of heat, 9 hours of work and blood sugars in the end my manager sent me home 35 mins early also was sitting down with cold water a good solution to get sugars down very new to all this thanks again
 
It was the pasta wot dunnit.

Always check the carbohydrates on everything. The watermelon probably didn't do you any favours either.

Other than that, your numbers are moving in the right direction, well done.

It's not about sugars, it's about carbs (Sugar is a carb, but so are starches). Some of us can have chickpea pasta, some can't without a spike. (I can't, for one. A bit of hummus on a celery stick is fine however... Beats me.). As for the bacon snacks, are they the Crusti Croc Bacon Snacks? Because that's more a wheat-flour based crisp with sugar and bacon-flavoring than anything to do with bacon, and it is very carb-heavy. (If it was pork scratchings you had, then I didn't say anything). So that might explain things. If it tastes and smells of bacon, it still might not be proper bacon. ;)

Next time you feel yourself going high, or your meter tells you you are, see whether you can take a brisk walk around the block a few times, if you feel up to it. My legs feel rubbery when this happens, but with a walk it usually goes away right-quick. Other people get a cigarette break, you could maybe ask for a walk break? (a ten minut break is better than half an hour of lost work time to your manager, right?)
 
Thanks for the info guys yeah i think it’s more a case of me getting to grips with what affects me differently than other

Jokalsbeek it was a chicken and bacon flavoured and I only ain’t half the funny thing is I ran into the diabetic nurse in Lidl when I bought it and she said that was good lol

I forgot to mention that I work in kitchen so it’s quite hot which is why I said maybe that plus 9 hours work and sugar lvls made me bad

I’ve been told as well that drinking cold water will lover lvls too
