What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning all. So a 5.3 for my 65th birthday. Either the Libre sensor, my body or both have gone rogue. I did eat 2 hrs later than normal, it was an OMAD, meat and pleasure was had which is always bad for bg control. Spare ribs in h/m l/c barbeque sauce which does kick my bg but it was 4.8 at 2 hrs. Dilemma now is how much do I try to control bg by lots of exercise or just roll with it? Maybe review at 5k steps. Our 3 fridges, cupboards and counter tops are groaning like a mid year Christmas with birthday and Father's day treats. The big difference to Christmas food is I really like these and will eat them. Normally I would have just had my A1c and have 6 months to clear the system. We have strawberries, cherries, nectarines, the only lc cake I will eat is being made and there is lamb shoulder, tomahawk steak, salmon, asparagus, wild game charcuterie, finger carrots, new local potatoes (no fresh garden peas), tea and sun! Even the tax man sent me a £300 birthday bonus. Lastly, I thank God, the NHS, Julie and my boys and a PM from @DJC3 and tea from the bottom of my heart for shielding me last summer and allowing me to arrive at this point.

Happy Birthday @ianpspurs
Have a good day.

Fbg 6.9

I think it’s higher because I couldn’t sleep last night at all. Tried tidying. Tried relaxing. Tried meditating. Tried a very very long shower finally at 3 am but to no avail. Cat even tried pinning me down and purring like mad, he feels like the Ferguson tractor engine of my youth. I know I am tired, I feel frail this morning.

Temp 36.1

I have already been outside, gardening. It stopped raining in the night. But it is very drippy soggy out there. The birds are full of the joys of morning. A little wren was curious of me and was in the bush besides me. I wish I could hear Jenny Wren’s song, because apparently it is beautiful. I can hear the ravens, and the alarm call of the blackbird. But since the last remapping of my Cochlear Processor earlier this year, I have not been able to pick up the sounds of the other birds.

I have set up my paints and taped canvas outside so am going to do today’s painting now. Back in half an hour or so....

Take care

6.2 this morning after a great nights sleep.

Her ladyship is on her way home today and all is well for her :)

This means I can now end the total isolation and revert to my usual self-imposed status. Weather is damp and foreboding but I shall go for a walk to celebrate.

A happy solar return to @ianpspurs, well done on another lap around our nearest star :)

Thank you kind sir.

5.2 this lovely sunny morning.

We had a lovely 2 hour walk around Sheringham Park yesterday morning. Light rain for the first hour and then the heavens opened. We got absolutely soaked - but weirdly we really enjoyed the walk.

Okay, painting for today.

8 inch canvas, squared off into 9 with washi tape. Then use any old paint tubes that paint will squeeze out of - acrylics, gouache, watercolour. Just using up the paints. Squeezing them on and 'drawing' with the tube, the flat base of the tube, and the sharp edge of the tube.

I did like it before I took the washi tape off, but then I like this one even better with the individual 9 tiny squares. A lot of ideas on here.

The birds are having a morning party out there. About 30 sparrows all together in the willow tree, a flock of bluetits, several pairs of blackbirds, a pair of male blackbirds who have been partners since March, a wren, and a magpie in the cherry tree (whom I am keeping a very close eye on...he knows I am watching him).

Anyway, here's today's painting...took half an hour.

No tea! But the rest is all fine in my book. I'm assuming getting soaked on bike, fitting new loft hatch, ordered one in the end on Mrs MC instructions a polite way of saying the one I built is Rubbish, don't ask, all come under nefarious.

My third painting in the big sky series is based on yesterday's late storm. Late afternoon sun lighting up the Plateau on Wolseley Estates before they drop into Tha Vale of Trent. Watercolour A4 45 minutes to paint and some drying time.

wonderful sky - you can feel the weight of it

Good morning from a happy bird calling morning in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of lamb shank and the magic colcannon mash of cauliflower and it’s leaves crisped up to a bubbly squeak came in at 5.2 this am - greedy boy.

What a way to start the day - a visit to a virtual art gallery, thank you @gennepher, @Muddy Cyclist and @geefull for your wonderful art.

It was Richard K Bernstein’s 86 birthday on the 17th but I would rather say a Happy Birthday to feast and treat ladend @ianpspurs and hope that the day is kind to you.

There’s A New Fermented, Zero Calories Sugar On The Market (and It Actually Tastes Like Real Sugar) - so says the advert. It’s called Purecane - has anyone tried it?

busy day today, I have a Miele vacuum cleaner that is wonderfully quiet but does not get significantly close to the back of the sofa and a Dyson stick thing that is quite noisy but gets right under things. So, I will be spending some taking the best parts of each one and trying to fuse them into something both quiet and with the reach that gets right under all the furniture without having to move anything. I can’t give you a time when this will be ready as I want it to a) work and b) be world beating.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. You seem to have captured the zeitgeist almost perfectly. Your puff piece needs unprecedented and at scale to be the real deal.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and a special mention for @ianpspurs on your 65th, more later in this post.

A 5.4 this morning on the meter of misbehaving and mystery, I shall be playing games with the insulin dosage again.

Well birfday boy, and I hope you are well, my birfday gift will be I shall get back on my keyboard and play "happy birthday to you", the real gift is I shan't post it so you won't have to listen, Les Dawson has nothing on my ability to mess it up.

Have a great day folks rain or no rain and a special note to our artists well done all.

@ianpspurs A very Happy Birthday, seems like you are celebrating in style.

Couldn't think of a virtual present and becoming old needs to be marked in some way. So I have used one of my network of friends to contact Cmdr. Oleg Skripochka of ISS who is going to give you a wave and sing Happy Birthday when he passes over your neck of the woods, make sure you check passing times and get out in the garden to wave back. I told him to lookout for a left handed golf swinging guy with two Labrador Puppies.

Have a good day.
