Protein and BG

So protein supposedly increases blood glucose but I haven’t seen it yet.

I just have a few questions on it:

Does protein still increase your BG even if you had a small amount of carbs with it (10-20g) and you take bolus for it?

Does protein only become glucose when you’re severely deficient in carbs such as eating less than 5g of carbs per meal?

I’m trying to figure out whether insulin is inhibiting the conversion of protein to glucose or if your body makes glucose regardless to meet your glucose needs

Protein only gets converted to carbs if consumption of it exceeds the body's amino acid requirements. We need about 1 gram of protein per Kg pf body weight each day. If protein consumption is not more than this, it doesn't raise blood glucose. The amount of carbs eaten doesn't affect this at all.

What you are saying certainly applies to me. I low carb (30-50g carbs a day) and eating protein doesn’t seem to have noticeable impact on my bs. But from reading other people’s posts, all type 1s on low carb get bs rise from protein below the threshold you mention and needing to bolus for protein and this can be problematic. I’m interested in the topic if others agree or not. I thought I was the only low carb type 1 who doesn’t have to bolus for protein. So you don’t bolus for protein as long as your daily intake is less than 1g per your weight in kg? Never seen anyone say that before . :-)

So is that a set standard 1g/kg of body weight?

If it is then I don’t need to worry about it because I’m 61kg and I barely eat any protein. Max around 30-40g protein unless I’m eating out
