Hi guys, for the past week I’ve noticed some floaters in both eyes. It’s not affecting my vision but should I be worried? My hba1c is 6.4 but recent sugars have been fluctuating. Can I book an unscheduled diabetic eye screening or will the opticians be able to check it out for me?

Thanks!

I developed some floaters in one eye last year. I just booked an appt with the optician where I have my retinal screening done. I was seen next day. I was reassured at that appt that although a little irritating it was nothing harmful in my case.
Of course maybe things will be different with covid issues but if I were in your position I’d phone an optician first.

Thank you! That’s really helpful! X

Briony, I might tend to calling my optician first, on the basis it is usually easier to see him than try to go to eye casualty or try for an extraordinary screening, without a referral.

Fingers crossed for you. Our eyes and what they do for us are so precious.
