Clarity on my readings help..

I am going to be 70 years old next Spring (though I can't quite believe I got so far) but eating what is basically Atkins I feel fairly fit - I was out playing music for dancing jigs yesterday so should know better really.
I can still work doing servicing on knitting machines, which are quite heavy to move around, particularly when at the local college where they have several departments with up to 17 machines to work through.
I don't need to eat much, I have two meals a day when in normal times. These days I am eating three times in two days. I used a blood glucose meter to check my meals and keep my blood glucose in normal range, and my Hba1c has settled at 42. Once I was seeing 8mmol/l after eating I stuck to those foods and then saw my numbers go down to under 7 after meals. I have stir fries and salads or low carb veges boiled baked or roasted. I do not even check my calories. I eat meat, fish, seafood, eggs and cheese, as they are all suitable. I have the natural fats which come along with those foods, use a little olive oil in addition, and in general restrict my carb containing foods to those with 10 percent carb, either starch or sugar.

Ditching carbs completely leaves me feeling way too weak.. tried it a while back where under supervision from a specialist GP, my calorie intake was reduced to just below 800 per day
I recommended ditching carbs not calories.. fill up on protein and fat just no carbs.. double the amounts of eggs, fish meats abnd green veg. That's the way to reduce blood sugar numbers. It's all about the carbs.

Thank you.
