Hi, I’m Kev from Maidstone in Kent but currently living in St Albans, Herts. UK
I’m type 2 and have been for roughly 6 years.
I work full time as a production manager for a graphics company which I love as I get to travel with my job pre COVID-19
So just wanted to say hi to you all as I may have some questions in the future.
Thanks
Kev

Hi Goonergal, no prizes for guessing which team you support thank you for the welcome!
I need some advice/help with the numbness in my feet. At night I get sharp stabbing pains like pins and needles but worse.
Is there anything out there to relieve these pains?

Assuming that this is diabetic neuropathy (which it might not be) then your best bet is probably to try to tighten up your blood sugars. Do yo know what sort of levels you are running at (ie hba1c, blood sugar levels?)

and ps A welcome to the forums from me also.

Hi Kev, another welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear about your feet, hopefully more members will chip in on that. Or you can start a new thread with your question reflected in the title so it will be easier to find for other members.

Just a question: are you sure you want to use your full name on the forum? Not a problem of course (as you can see I use my real first name and a picture in my profile so I can be quite easily found) but be aware this is an open forum so a Google search on your name will lead here.
Should you have second thoughts, you can simply edit your post :)

Hi Ellie, I’m new to this forum thing and read a post which asked a lot of questions about yourself and the first question was what is your name? Followed by your favourite bands, movies etc. Anyway, my last blood test came out at 90 which is very high. I have been waiting for a surgery on my shoulder but got cancelled because of the high reading. My GP has just adjusted my medication and I have had a serious look at my lifestyle. I kinda buried my head in the sand for more than a while thinking Metformin was the answer to my problems. However this is not the case I have realised. I now have my blood sugar under control and measures between 5 and 9 on my Accu-chek
The problem with my feet is now an issue, does anyone know of a way of reliving the stabbing pains / numbness?

Thanks

Kev

Congrats on the blood sugar reduction, this has a good chance of reducing (or at least arresting progession) your symptoms.

But neuropathy is really hard to treat, so I'd recommend you see your doctor. It could be something else (such as vitamin deficiency, I think some of the Bs?) and your doctor will be able to diagnose and prescribe prescription drugs if needed.

Here's a really interesting thread on the illness

Good luck.

Hello everyone. :) Just joined as I am a fairly newly diagnosed pre-diabetic. There really is a wealth of sensible information here which I have been hoovering up with gusto! Thanks for allowing me into the club and I will post my rather long tale of woe on the normal forum.
