You must be very insulin resistant. The most effective way to improve insulin sensitivity is by getting regular exercise. 30 minutes every day. Metformin may also help. It tends to reduce hunger, reduce liver glucose, and it is also thought to improve insulin sensitivity.

i feel like im confident with insulin
ive been using it and adjusting it with no help

Hi,

What numbers are you currently getting from your meter?

current numbers
8 to 16.6
mostly in higher end
of these

cdpm - I hear you say you have no doctor, so are you able to buy insulin over the counter, without prescription? If not, how are you acquiring it?

I would consider if someone is giving you a prescription for your medication thay have a duty of care to ensure it is being used properly, to achieve the desired results (within reason).

Whilst you may feel confident in adjusting your doses, it clearly isn't working out too well, in terms of your declared results.

Sometimes, we need a fresh set of professional eyes on things.

The danger period is within all of these numbers.
When are you next in touch with the insulin giving team?
What did your annual eyes ad feet check reveal?

i dont get to get any eye or foot care
i will be in touch with the walkin for refills
in march or april

im getting it prescribed from walkin drs who call me
its set up at a drug store
i call the drug store walkin and ask
if they will have a dr call me

You can not sit and wait for any one to contact you. You need to call. Also walk in clinics rarely do follow ups.

i really wish i could
but theres no one to call
our endo left
the wait list to have your own dr
ive been on for 6 years maybe more

i guess i could call and ask a dr to call me again
and ask if he can refer me somewhere for follow up
but if 1 is already supposed to im not sure what it does
calling them again
other than maybe put fire under their butts lol

I wouldn't be happy with with what’s happening you, you have to call and get the help you need.

Even if there isn’t a Endo near you there are options for telephone consultations. You have to be your own advocate.

Get on a list now for a doctor near you, even if there is a wait list at least you are on the list.

You need help, and you cant wait for doctors to call you.

I'm alarmed with your level of care. Whether your unavailable for a full-time care giver or other health problems obstruct more involved care which many deem a more normal level of care in the UK.
First aim for steady care before looking into changing the therapy needed.
It seems obvious to some that weight gain comes with over use of insulin in high IR type 2s.
Myself this was second to keeping my bgs good and in turn preventing eye or other organ damage.
Take the time to understand your care givers health plan for your diabetes. Once you understand the plan and aims for you going forward. Work together to achieve those goals.
Maybe just having a good level of continuous care may be your collaborated goal. For some that alone is a huge step forward from hectic, unplanned and missed check ups.
A huge achievement to some can be misconstrued as not enough to others.
We are all different and our needs are such too.
Test, keep your diabetic appointments and work with your care team. That alone I applaud. I truly understand when your body (and mind) needs support too. Not just your insulin therapy.
You know needing insulin places you in a catagory for a higher need for health care support, right? Which is ok.

The OP is in Canada. We do not get regular foot checks under our public healthcare.
If there are issues a GP can refer to a specialist.
Also walk in clinics are for off hours and if someone doesn’t have a doctor.

ive been on a waiting list for a dr for 6 plus years
the only care i get is from walkin drs by phone
and never the same 1
i had a really nice walkin dr who came up with a plan
but the walkin cant get the same drs to call back the next time
so im trying to follow her plan as at least it was a plan
and had a goal and i could understand it
the plan she made has been interupted by the other walkin drs though
example being
she said to titrate up the lantus 1 unit a day until my fasting is 4 to 7
but the other drs just say put it to this or this which isnt the same
as she says so i just follow what she said as it makes more sense
than just jumping up 10 units at a time with no end goal
at least not that i understood or was stated as such
so if im asked why im doing it that way im not even sure what to say

and im still waiting for that follow up the last walkin dr said he thought i needed
but i guess he has no where to send me

i did spend some time 1 day calling around nearby to see if someone was taking
new patients and i either got no or asked was i on the wait list for a dr
