Type of diabetes
I reversed my Type 2
Treatment type
Diet only
Been a long time since I visited the forum mostly down to life and the fact my Journey reached a stable point and I have been living a somewhat normal life since.

So I was Diagnosed T2 In Nov 20 With my HB1AC Being 42 June/Oct, then two Tests at 54 in November.

I started a LCHF diet plan and cut out the Booze.

It took a while to adjust to my new way of eating, mostly the time consuming prep and craving for foods I had eaten all my Life.

My next set of Blood work was done in Feb and HB1AC Came back at 38 and a 22kg Weight loss at this point.

The Huge drop was a surprise in the short time frame of 7 weeks.

My next Test was May and HB1AC Came back at 31 with a weight of 100KG.

So a year in and my blood work is normal, I still eat a HCLF diet and I average around 20-60G Carbs a day.

For me it's the type of carbs I eat that have the biggest changes/effects.

I am using Intermittent Fasting of between 15-18 hours 5 days a week

The other two days 12 Hour fast.

Fasting 76-84
Pre - 92-96
Post 92 - 104

Current weight 95KG having sat stable for the last 4-6 months and adapted to my new diet, I am now on the next weight loss trip all the way down to 78KG.

So for those who visit and are just starting on the Journey take my story and see what you can achieve in a very short space of time.

I was fortunate, my diagnosis was within 2-3 months of my Blood Sugars becoming elevated to Diabetic levels.

So there you have it some good news in this crazy world we live in :)

If anyone has any questions I am happy to answer :)

Catching it early, low diagnostic levels & weight loss are all main factors in reversal.
You seem to be fortunate on all fronts, well done on being so proactive.

I would be interested to know how your body would react to a cheat meal, say 100g of carbs.
A McDonalds or Fish & Chips.
Do you low carb to maintain weight loss or to control bloods or both ?

Cheat Meals - or as I like to call them Reward Meals haha!

I started with 2 larger reward meals a month, but that week I do a lot more weight based training that week leading up to them.

My last Meal was an Indian Takeaway - Curry / Nann / Two Onion Bajjis / Handful of Chips / Mixed Grill

Pre 94
90 Mins 130
120 Mins 118
150 Mins 106

McDonalds was Tested

Large Quarter Pounder With Sprite Zero.

Pre 96
90 Mins 125
120 Mins 108
150 Mins 96

But It tasted awful and I was starving after 2 hours.

And as much as I enjoyed eating it, I find after a larger meal with Carbs I always feel awful haha, so for the most Part those Reward Meals are a thing of the past now

If I eat lets say a Fry Up

2 Sausages
3 Bacon
Halloumi
3 Eggs
1 Slice Of Toast
1 Hash Brown
Toms ( 100g)
Beans (100G)

Then my levels are almost the same as when I have a 20g Carb Chicken Salad at the 2 Hour Point, and around 112 at 60 Mins Compared to 106 with the Salad.

All of the above result in normal Fasting Levels the next day as well.

So for me it is what Carbs I eat and what I eat them with.

LCHF - I think now I am so used to doing it and I feel better for it, It has stuck and probably always will now. When I get down to 78KG I will experiment a little more with other meals less fasting, maybe have breakfast once a week.

But I was fortunate in catching and acting, and for something that massively helped me come back, and that I now don't even think about it's more second nature than anything.

Great figures, it's great to know you can indulge on occasion without wrecking your progress.
Like you I went from 124kg to 89kg post diagnosis.
As it took about a month for me to purchase a glucometer I've still never seen diabetic readings no matter what I ate.
I shudder to think what they were like in the months/years preceeding, maybe better if I don't know.

I really beieve we are on the cusp of something here, once one of the tech companies come up with a non-invasive wearable the general public will be shocked what the weatern diet is doing to their system.
This low carb generation will be seen as trailblazers.

100% Agree it's no coincidence the major Influx of T2 in the western World.

I love data / tracking and would 100% pick something up to monitor myself if it didn't involve Glue Needles and lots of cash ha!

It will come, 10 years ago who would have though we would be walking around with BP / HR / O2 / Cardiogram on our watches.

Top stuff from yourself as well dude, fortunate that you got the same kind of time frame as me and hit the road running!

I had 0 Symptoms by bloods were done due to other reasons, so I could have gone 18 - 24 months before being diagnosed at which point it may have been too late to reverse it naturally.

Like they say you are what you eat!

You've done a terrific job getting yourself in shape, well done.
You deserve a treat so I share this link. Keep it to yourself, I don't send it to anyone!
Actually, I found the bread only recently so had fried egg on toast for the first time in about 5 years!
Keep it up.

Congratulations!

I think you mean 2019 - not 2020

Congratulations- these stories are great to share as they give everyone on this journey hope and confirmation that what they are doing is the right course of action.

Great news!

That’s so amazing!!

As someone who need to lose weight too can you give me examples of what meals you have? I’m worried that I’m having ‘too’ much fat or protein. Thanks.

Hi,

Meal wise when I was dropping the weight, or what I tend to eat as a normal day now?

Thank you. I think I’m just in that old calorie mindset. I’m worried that the cream in my coffee or the cheese with my bacon or chicken will not assist in the weight loss too.
I suppose I need to trust the system?

I’m fasting from 8pm till 12pm at the moment so 16/8 at the moment. Hoping to extend that if I can over the next few weeks.

Well there are plenty of us who had the same idea when we started but after losing 120 pounds with cream in my coffee everyday I guess I"m now converted..!

My key aim was to lower my bg. Eating low carb does that for me. The 3 stone weight loss was a pleasant side effect!

The food you ate to lose weight as well as control your bg please? Thanks.
Sorry for the delay work is a bit manic rite now so have been away.

My weight loss food was pretty much the same every day/week for three months more or less.

Fast 1800-1200 (Water / tea / coffee)

Mon - Fri Lunch 50g Peanuts / fish / salad or a Subway Salad with Mayo and pepsi max.

Sat / Sun Lunch Roast dinner veg meat and small amount of stuffing, LOADS of crackling and pigs in blankets haha.

Dinner/Tea.

Salad with homous/slaw/pickled onions - with Burgers/chicken thighs/sausages --- any fatty meat really.

Once a week Fry up with Tomatoes/bacon/sausage/eggs/haloumi/1 piece of bread and black pudding.

That was pretty much my existence for three months.

Since then I have Just aimed to maintain weight and operated on under 50-70Grams of Carbs a day.

But those Carbs tend to come from coleslaw/yoghurt/nuts ect

The bottom line is I have removed processed foods from my diet give or take the add condiment.

Just have My 6 Monthly Checkup Back Today

HB1 - 31

Chol 4.5 Bang on the money (only 0.7 Tri)

Fatty Liver now 12 months full remission.

Celebrating by having a Salad lol

Well done! Those are brilliant results. May I ask if you drink alcohol at all? I’m reading conflicting info about this generally. Thanks

Like they say you are what you eat!

I agree, and the impact could be seismic on the food and drink industry, when both diabetics & non diabetics are all CGMing round the clock. Who’s going to be wanting Mr Kellogg’s cereals or Ronald McDonald’s fries when they see their blood sugar shooting up north of 10.0 mmol/L afterwards, and we know this happens for both diabetics and non diabetics.
