Ok so got myself a meter just tested and ketones test says it’s 1.4 mil.
Is that good or bad?

I know you were asking about this the other day and since you are on a dietary keto regime, that's good! It shows that yes, you are in keto.

So does this mean I should be losing weight?

Possibly. Like a BG reading that’s a snapshot in time. To be fully fat adapted and hence burning bodyfat fir fuel, you need to be in ketosis for a while. That’s why it’s important to be consistent in what you eat.

This is likely going to sound a bit harsh, but it’s intended as ‘tough love’. You’ve been given a lot of information over the past few days. I think it’s important that you really read, absorb and understand it so you can decide the best way forward for you and then learn and tweak as you go. My biggest piece of advice would be to stick with whatever you decide (unless your BG meter tells you it’s taking your numbers out of range) and give it a good 3 or 4 weeks to work. In other words, be patient! What works quickly for one person might take longer or not work at all for another, and you need to be comfortable that if it does work, you can stick to it.

Will do.
I’ve potentially been at these levels for 5 weeks but obviously no way of knowing. Aim is to continue for next few weeks and see how it goes.
I’ve got new recipe for stir fry and butter chicken which are less carbs. Also trying to do intermittent fasting but am finding I’m getting a bit too preoccupied with food which isn’t wise given I have history of eating problems. I’ll see how that goes.

Are you still on Forxiga? I know very little about this, but flozins are associated with ketoacidosis, even with normal blood glucose.
Not at all saying this is the case, as ketones are perfectly fine when due to a low carb diet, but not something to dismiss either.

No not on for it’s. I’m on trulicity now.

So bit confused this morning, yesterday I was in ketosis with 1.4 now this morning I’m at 0.7. Sugars were in the 5s a little while ago.
Is this normal?
I keep reading info but I do find all this ketosis really confusing,
I’m actually feeling not very good on the intermittent fasting. Not sure if I ate enough but to be honest I couldn’t find what to eat. I had loads of meat but didn’t want too much veg to lift up the carbs, but think I should have had more. Maybe I could have added a chicken thigh. And actually probably not enough fat but not sure how to add fat to the meal I had. Felt rubbish last night so at night had 2 of my keto fudges (1g if that ] at 9pm so into the fasting time but I felt quite strange, this morning feel very empty and very mood swingy which is not pleasant and head is very fuzzy and headachy. I hit the 4s yesterday and didn’t have symptoms so happily kept them there for quite a while but then started to feel rubbish (same as now really) my body is getting better at the 4s but it doesnt like being there for any length of time so I still get that false hypo hangover if I stay there too long.
Just having a cup of tea with cream which is disgusting but trying to not eat till 12 but I’m really hungry lol.

Also through the day every did 5-10 mins on my step box so that I could keep moving through the day, not sure if that helped with the ketosis and maybe because I’ve not done anything, what with sleeping etc that’s enough to push me up.
after the test yesterday I had 2 sausages (1.6g)
Pork chop (ate the fatty strip as well)
3 florets of broccoli and 3 mushrooms coated with cheddar (like a cauliflower cheese) Sugars stayed int eh 6s so all good there.
So nothing that is very carbs at all. But ketones have dropped. is that normal? Or does that mean I’m still eating too many carbs albeit I’m not hardly eating them

Like blood sugar ketones can be fairly dynamic.. mine are usually lower in the morning and higher in the afternoon especially after fasting.

I'm guessing the reason for that is that the blood sugar rise due to the dawn phenomenon has a slight impact on ketones.

How much cream are you having?
About the same as I would have milk.
I’m very much not a cream person. I am very much the opposite. For example before diagnosis if I ever had to choose say pasta or something it would always be a tomato base. I’d never ever have cream because it makes me feel sick. I always preferred salad cream to mayo for the same reason.
When I told my dr she said it was because my body is so addicted to sugar. It does mean that on the whole I eat food that really isn’t my taste.
Cream is one of them.
It’s taken away the hunger though, although I still feel a bit woozy and headachy and not particularly good, but the hungers gone.

In tea I have 30 ml of milk but only need 10 ml of cream so a third of the cream content. Maybe try that to make it more palatable?

Over time the longer you do lck, you may find you rarely show keytones over 1.0 (this is / was my experience). I notice that you workout, those that I follow tend to register low (Ted Naiman, Zac Bitter, Shawn Baker) - they are at around 10% or less body fat. When asked the general view is that keytones can be more efficiently used over time in the context of leanness / exercise.
