Type 2 Feeling ill over the weekend

Hi,

I work Monday to Friday and have a small breakfast and little lunch. On a weekend I have a larger breakfast (full english!).

I have noticed my energy falls and I dont feel like doing anything. I gave uo alcohol on January 1st but that isnt the problem.

I assume my body has trouble coping with my breakfast and I dont really recover until the evening when I may have some chocolate! Does anybody else have this problem?

I am also finding that I am snacking on an evening - the more I eat the more I want to eat. I am 15stone 7lbs BMI 30ish so not too bad but room for improvement.

Have you tried reducing your ‘eating window’ & clean ( water/black tea/coffee) fasting in between? I found my energy levels much more balanced when I started this ... took a while for my body to adjust but feels much better now .

Anything for dinner?

What food is your small breakfast and little lunch usually?

Have you got a blood testing meter? Complaining about diabetic symptoms does not really work if you don't test your blood sugars at the same time...

Thanks for that. I have tried one meal a day and I certainly lost weight but the hunger headaches were a problem after a few days.

Breakfast is the sachet of porridge with a few blueberries. Lunch is a cupasoup about 120 cals.
Dinner is meat and veg no spuds but followed by fruit and yoghurt which makes me want and have cheese and biscuits!
I am rarely hungry but if my tongue gets bored it wants something. Cravings are a problem.

You are right. I have a test kit and usually only test before breakfast and its usually 7.5 to 9. Latest bloodtest at the docs showed 46 and 48 is the critical figure.
I will test more often as you imply. I dont seem to find anything that works for me.
Fasting loses weight but gives me headaches
Fewer calories during the day makes me pig out on an evening.
Cut out spuds/pasta/rice/alcohol but need snacks an hour later.
Using the plate for portion size etc.
I hope to do some exercise now the weather is better. Also going to eat later in the evening so the time for snacks is reduced!

You are sending your blood sugar levels on a rollercoaster I would imagine. Are you testing levels before and after you have eaten?
Porridge (hi carb), cupasoup no idea what could be in that , then fruit a and yoghurt will likely cause your blood sugars to rise quickly after eating .. then once your insulin production kicks in drop quite rapidly creating the vicious cycle of hunger which you are then satisfying with cheese (which would be fine on its own) but with crackers that are another source of sugar.
Have you ever had your blood sugar tested? Have you been diagnosed with diabetes?

I have done the pre diabetic course. My last blood test was 46 and 48 is diabetic. I am trying hard not to be diabetic but my cravings are the problem. Starvation works but gives me headaches. Fruit makes me hungry. Correct portions dont satisfy me.
If I ate fish and chips or a full english I wouldnt snack! They fill me up.

I eat too quickly and I dont drink enough water as I am not thirsty.
I live off 3 cups of tea 3 coffees and a pint of water a day. I think I am supposed to have 3 litres!

Ok so you had an HbA1c of 46 mmol/m which is well into "prediabetes" so it would be better to take some action.

The food that you are currently eating will neither help maintain your blood sugar levels nor protect you from developing T2.

If you ate fewer carbohydrates and more protein and fat you'd probably (like so many of us) feel fuller (the fat will provide satiety) and get healthier.

Fruit will spike your blood sugar which then causes an insulin reaction which then drives your hunger as the sugars come down.

You can eat a full english with bacon , eggs, high meat content sausages (97% meat) just ditch things like toast and beans.

I have survived the past 5 years on 4 coffees and 1 tea per day with maybe one glass of water before bed.

Tea and coffee both contain mainly water anyway.
