Metformin Help

Hello all

I've been taking metformin for 12mths with no side effects.
I recently started the Blood Sugar Diet and its certainly helping to bring my blood sugar down, it was 18 pre metformin, it was a steady 11 on metformin and now its 7.

The issue I'm having is when I take my metformin tablets 3x a day it is making me feel sick, often after taking am tablet I am sick. I take it 30 mins after omaprazole tablet and always with food.

Can anyone advise is there are alternatives to metformin?

Has anyone else developed side effects to metformin after a year? It's v strange.

I'm hoping there are alternatives as I'm dreading taking them everyday due to sickness.

Any advice appreciated
 
Are you on slow release Metformin .if not you could ask for that as it seems to reduce those side effects.

It always made me miserable even in slow release format but my friend had a similar case like yours where he had side effects showing up after roughly 9 months and so he was moved to SR and he has been absolutely fine with slow release version ever since.

Then quite possibly you are like me... you must talk to the GP about this... explain how its altering your lifestyle and you cannot continue like this... most likely they will ask you to go for Jardiance...

Although in my experience as you will see from my signature these medicines did not help me in bringing down the sugar levels... it was low carb diet combined with intermittent fasting that worked so well that I am now off medication... I must add that I acknowledge every body is different and what works for me may not work for others...
