I ordered the GlucoNavii along with 100 strips and it seems straigh forward enough to use but have a few questions if anyone is able to help me :)

There is a what looks like a red test strip but it doesnt have the yellow end to put blood on it. The instructions call it. Standard Glucose Check Strip what is this for or whats it's purpose ?

There only appears to be 10 lanclets do you just re-use these not needing 1 lanclet to 1 strip... just clean after use ?

Can someone point me to a good sticky for what readings to be looking for etc aswell if possible probably missed it when I looked.

I'm also planning on doing the test on my front arm and use the special attachment to push hard down/flush is setting 5 the best choice to make sure there is a connection?

Any other advice would be great.

Thanks.

So as a male like me I guess reading the manual is an alien concept but....

I have no idea why they include as it should be fairly obvious if the meter is working...

When I started out I bought 300 lancets.. I still have about 290 left..change them somewhere about 3 monthly if I remember..
a good sticky for what readings to be looking for
I aim for somewhere between 4.5 and 6.5 mmol/l
The "official" levels are lower than 5.6 before eating and lower than 7.8 two hours after food for "non diabetic adults" .

I use the sides of my fingers to get blood out and 5 is the deepest setting so its worth starting at 3 and see how it goes.

lol Yeah thanks I read that bit also but couldnt understand its purpose as I wasnt able to put any blood on it so wouldnt be able to properly test it... and would know if it working/reading function is working when i perform an actual test.. reason I asked is incase it was some sort of syncing or reset the system tool but yeah it's really not needed.

okay so can use same lanclet for a few months until im guessing blunt needing replaced.. do you just wipe it down after each use ? I have some wet wipes which ill use for cleaning the skin area and maybe use on the lanclet ?

Thats great so you dont test after consuming the food you wait 2 hours to see how its affected you.

Thats great stuff so test before eating to get normal level then 2 hours after eating to see how it's affected me.

Cheers

Did two tests there first one without putting strip into meter and adding blood to it and the sliding it in resulted in.

E-1

Second time placed the strip in first then added blood to yellow part and got

E-2.

So bit confused whats happening here

It is saying

E-2 with flashing blood drop.

Just to check I got 5.6 but havent eaten anything in 5 hours. Had a protein shake when I woke up but it's zero carb and zero fat possible the sweeteners in it might be causing a spike if it's 5.5 after 5 hours then there is a good chance it's spiking much higher after 2 hours ?

EDIT : Sorry just seen your reply before posting this... reason I asked as you had put should be lower than 5.6 before eating but you want to hit about 4ish as your own preference.

So basically If I can remain between 4 and 7 at all times i'm doing well ?

Apologise for all the questions.

Is this the check strip you were asking about?
Why are you not following the instructions? I'm not trying to be rude or funny - just wondered, really - why you aren't using the check strip to check your meter, and then putting it away in the case for use at a later date - if you get a strange reading with a test strip.
Putting blood inside the meter is not a good idea, by the way - it is likely to corrode the connections.

Im not sure if you have understood me I probably could have been clearer.

I used the check strip when I first got it and meter is working fine I just wondered if it served any other purpose than to check meter worked as surely turning it on and putting a test strip in would not only tell you it works but give you a reading to confirm it's also reading.. that was the only reason I had asked.. as I wondered if it served any second purpose like resetting the meter or keeps the meter calibrated etc.. but yes the meter works as intended.

I wasn't ever putting the blood directly into the meter ? :O

The first test I wrote that I put the test strip into the meter only after I had put the blood onto the strip... and resulted in a E-1 error.

Once realised that I should be putting the strip into the meter first and then adding blood whilst it's sitting in the meter this is what I did but then I got a E-2 error this time round.

Third attempt I did the exact same as second attempt and got a reading so i'm guessing the second attempt was just a faulty strip as I had performed it exactly as I had in the third attempt which worked.

Hope that makes more sense now.

OK - I am just having my first cup of coffee - hopefully the world will swim into focus properly now.
The normal way to use a meter with a test strip is, the way I do it, is stab and get a drop of blood. Use the other hand to slide the test strip into the meter and wait for it to sort itself out - turn on and then wait until it shows the symbol for putting the blood on. Put the tip of the strip to the drop of blood and let is suck up all it wants - it might peep when it gets there. The display will count down and then show the number.
I get the meter placed where I can get at it easily, with a strip placed on top of it ready - but just in case there is a delay in getting blood, I wait to actually insert the strip.
Wow - the Lidl ground coffee is good. Pack looks like a gold brick, if you happen to need ground coffee.

The lancets are supposed to be single use. I change mine every time but I don't do much testing now and also they are cheap.

The E2 error message means that you have not put enough blood on the strip wait until a good blob appears then put the strip next to the blood to suck it up .I find that putting the strip at the side of the blob of blood rather than on top of it works best

The instructions say single lancet use as often used in a medical situation across many different patients. Where its one lancet per person its OK to use the same lancet many times.
But if say your partner wants to test their blood use a new lancet and then another one when back to you.
I just change it when it starts to get a bit blunt and hurts more. No one else uses my lancet.

Hi guys I have 2 last questions.

Tonight I tested before I had my dinner I got 5.6

I then ate Chicken, steak, mayonnaise, coleslaw and a coke zero.

Went a slow walk for 20 mins then when I got home I tested on the 2 hour mark exactly and got a 5.1.

Did the walk help to keep the level low ? It was only a 20 min walk at a comfortable speed.. would the level likely have been higher if I hadnt went a walk ? I mean it was lower than the reading I took prior to eating :?

I then went to the gym for a couple of hours..... When I returned I ate my post workout meal and im currently waiting 2 hours to test again.

But with the last meal I forgot to test prior to the meal...... As I know I was 5.1 after dinner earlier and Ive been working out since then Is it okay to just test after eating ?

Or for an accurate reading should I have tested before I ate this last meal?

Thanks this is the last questions promise ;)

Probably helped but the meal was pretty low carb too so would probably have only had a minimal rise anyway.
Next time you have the same meal maybe don't go for the walk and see what happens?

But with the last meal I forgot to test prior to the meal...... As I know I was 5.1 after dinner earlier and Ive been working out since then Is it okay to just test after eating ?

The workout could have had an impact so probably worth ditching that test and next time do a before and after.
