Hi everybody - hope your all well - we in Melbourne are in lockdown again so we are used to it
I am just normal and have type 2 but am lucky - on diet - Doctor let me stop taking Metformin and I am very pleased
Now we are waiting on a My Aged Care package which is about a year off - we are assessed and approved but need to wait on funds being issued
Planning is in hand and we want to self manage - the funds ar to keep us in our own home as compared to a nursing home - that is farthest from our mind - Just now
We need help with gardening and home cleaning and food preparation- we are in our eighties and my wife works tirelessly to make our house a home and I love it but my health makes me next to useless
Anything we can do to give her a bit of a break is worth investigating so we are looking at Light n Easy here in Australia
The daughters are shocked at the carbohydrates in the meals so we wonder what you found
How much fridge space needed for 5 days meals - lunch and dinner - for two people

appreciate your comments

Hi @peterwhite1
I just had a quick look at their website and I could be wrong, but I don't think their meals are low carb, though am guessing they may be low calorie? Though they do seem to have a number of meals at 30g of carbs, which may work for you?

What sort of diet are you on? Low carb or low calorie?

I use Carb Manager the app and try hard to keep carbs down but usually around 50 to 60 gas carbs
don't eat take aways or junk food just fresh food the wife cooks but sometimes a bread roll here and there

If that's per meal then you shouldn't have too many issues, if it's per day it'll be harder.

If you are going to be eating that many carbs in your main meal than maybe you can cut carbs more in the other meals?
Omelettes are easy to make, with cooked meat and cheese - I often add chopped spring onion or chives. Sometimes they end up more like scrambled egg but taste the same!
I also have sandwiches using lettuce leaves instead of bread.
And I buy ready made Indian curries - some of them are low carb - to have with cauliflower rice.
And a good quality lower carb yogurt (I use greek yogurt, full fat) with a few berries or other lower carb fruit for breakfast?

Today as a cheat, because my home help is away and I am fed up of eating ready made curry nearly every day, I bought a large pizza on special offer - a terrible waste but I will carefully lift off the toppings and spread them over a low carb (carbzone) tortilla.

[and throw the base away!]

Here's the nutrition info breakdown for their (Light n Easy) meals, along side of the meals name is a link with "More Details" click on that and it will show how many carbs are in the meal.

You will need a fair bit of freezer space to store the meals.

Best of luck with My Aged Care as well, they are not the fastest of movers when it comes to getting stuff done.

Edit: Clarity.
