Yes, Lantus is a bit acidic, and for some of us it really hurts.
There are different long acting insulins like Tresiba or Levemir, so if this puts you off from injecting (for some it doesn't hurt at all), have a talk with your team!

Hi to you.

Are you injecting straight from the fridge.? It can sting from cold..
You can keep your Lantus pen out at room temprature for a duratuion in use for 28 days? (Pending on dose.)

It's normal for lantus to sting a bit I'm afraid. (Virtual hugs). You should get used to it (more virtual hugs).

Agreed, but it can still sting a bit even when you keep it out of the fridge.

Is it "normal" for Lantus to sting?
No.
It is common for Lantus to sting?
Yes.

Sorry to be pedantic but I believe less than half the people using Lantus finds it stings and to suggest otherwise can be unnecessarily scary for people newly prescribed it.

As @Jaylee said, insulin is very prone to sting if you take it direct from the fridge so this should be avoided. Lantus is pretty stable. I have kept it at room temperature for more than a month and not experienced any issues

If you find you are sensitive to Lantus, you can try alternative injection sites as some places have more nerves than others.
Failing that, there are other basal insulins to try which have the added advantage of having a flatter profile. (Lantus has a peak after 5 hours which can cause issues for some people.)
