Type 2 GlucoRx readings

I was diagnosed with Type 2 immediately before the Covid lockdown, and have not seen anyone since. My reading on the Gluco are usually between 5 and 8 . I'm on Metformin 3 per day and seem fine. However my reading tonight 2 hours after a light meal was 11.2. Should I be concerned about this?
This is my initial contact with the Forum and not sure if this is the type of information normally requested.

Welcome to the forums @Chuckles1952 . You can ask anything you like on the forums (though if not diabetes related it may get moved to the general chat area). The forum rules (in my signature) have some restrictions on how we reply (eg no medical diagnoses).

As to your question, probably best answered by a T2, but I personally wouldn't worry too much over a one off reading, though it may be an indication that the carbs in that light meal were too many for your body to cope with.

What did you eat?

Also, blood sugars can be affected by lots of things other than food, notably certain medications (eg steroids) and illness.

Also, be aware that glucometers are not 100% accurate, they are required to have +-15% accuracy, and also it's easy to get a higher reading if you have contaminants on your hands.

Finally, when you say you haven't seen anyone since the covid lockdown have you at least had a blood test of some sort? That seems a long time to go without a check up to me...

Thanks for this info EllieM. The only blood tests I've had are my 3 monthly Cancer ones. I recently got an Hba1 one done, tried to get appt with local surgery which was cancelled. Still waiting for rebooking. Going to have to read up on those links, for which I am grateful.
Seems I need to remind the medics I have more than one medical condition,

Welcome @Chuckles1952
Quiche, beetroot, tomato and potatoes are all quite carby and I know that personally a meal like that would see my levels rise a fair bit.
We are all different though and if you can usually eat that many carbs without seeing such high numbers, I was wondering if you confirmed that number by doing another test ?
Whenever you get a result you are not expecting it pays to do a second test for confirmation. It could have been a faulty strip or your meter accuracy (+/- 15% )90% of the time so in theory 1 in 10 results could be way out and the manufacturer would say it's within design tolerance. Or it could be something simple like a little food or drink on your fingers affecting the results
